just a heads up, the new drivers have problems it seems..

Quote:
I confirm you that a contact of mine who has tried the 456.38 has the same behavior.
No management of the selected power mode. only stuck at the last value applied with the previous driver version.
(where is the validation team and no regression tests database on nvidia side ? ...)

It seems also that CRU is not working anymore (by the extensions blocks and displayID )

I have a different problem with the new Nvidia drivers:
Whenever I switch MPC-HC to Fullscreen the desktop now zooms in for a few milliseconds and everything gets huge.
Its only for maybe 50ms so most people probably won't notice. But I find it very distracting.
Changing madVR rendering from dx11 to dx9 fixes it. So I'm using dx9 now, so far didn't notice any reduction in quality.

So i have this annoying issue with mkv files lately. They suddenly freeze and can also skip from that point to the very end. Playback works fine for the rest, but always freezes at the same points even if i restart it.

Edit: Well, seems i've got a need for a new HDD.

Trying checkdisk as a last attempt, but never had much luck with snake oil fixes like this. Prior experiences have taught me that when hardware starts coughing it's 100% sure i have to buy a replacement.

They sadly made the time seeking when dragging the mouse from the timeline from the best 100ms to 200ms.. I know that for some difference was insignificant but for me it worked wonders.

Sadly, again, i contacted em about it and they said they won't touch it.

I like the MPC video renderer they have. Gives me really good picture quality (including nice scaling options), while being easier to use and configure than madVR. Doesn't push system resources that much either.

Been using Enhanced Video Renderer thus far, but I'm considering switching soon.

yes it is, i also use it for lower end PC´s and laptops, where it does an great job..
BUT, be reminded that if you use teh DX11 renderer, some shaders you might used before, like debanding and such wont work anymore, since they where made for the DX9 api... so either use teh converted Shaders in the "Shaders11" Folder or use the DX9 renderer.. (you can set that inside teh MPC Video renderer Window)

I previously used KMPlayer (I stopped using it a few years after it was sold to a crap developer). I thought about switching to PotPlayer (from the original KMPlayer dev) but didn't like some shortcuts and then tried Kodi, which works great for me. I'm not always very close to PC and can remote control it with an app from smart phone or, more often, with a proper remote control Razz

MadVR is the primary reason for me, though most of the time I end up watching releases and repacks so compressed that its magical filters can't really do much to improve them as they're lost causes. Razz Still, it does definitely help with the image quality even with such a ghetto material.
