Alright, so i finished it! Where to begin.. I've enjoyed what i played, however it all falls a little flat. It's too neatly wrapped in a little present, and to give a tiny bit of a spoiler i guess, the peaceful path leads to almost no confrontation for the duration of the game, except for some short, but enjoyable sure, pieces.

Having watched the other variations on youtube, i have to say that the more.. not so peaceful choices made had better dramatic and/or shocking effects.

The illusion of choice unfortunately is more real then ever, as most options either lead to mostly the same outcome, or are just black or white, with no shades of grey in-between, and some of the choices that you, as the player, feel would have an effect on the story are taken away from you, as your controlled character answers for you without input.

I'm trying not to give out too many details here, but i'd like to say, that if you're playing on the peaceful path, pretty much the demo sequence will be the most dramatic thing you see in the game, from start to finish. My recommendation is go the other way first, then youtube the other stuff/or replay using the helpful chapter selection option.

Some of the supporting characters are very poorly written, with people that were clearly written as love interests or friends with the intention of making the player feel for them when they get hurt/killed come off as complete assholes that you'd want to have the pleasure of shooting yourself, if given the option. Luckily, the not peaceful path will give you a few of these options.

To grade this, i'd say..
6/10 for the peaceful path
8/10 for the not so peaceful path

This isn't to say there's just 2 endings to the thing, there's more, of course, but, there's, i guess, 2 that count.

Heavy rain was better.

I'm loving it. There's not much gameplay in it, but I knew that going in (though they went a bit overboard with the user input for useless tasks). The production values are through the roof for this kinda thing and some of the acting is better than most movies. Really enjoying it. I do agree the story is a bit cliche and in your face, but it's done so good that I don;t even care about that. Sadly, I'm never really surprised by any scifi stories anymore.

Pick up for 60, play, sell for 40-45. That's what I do. I sold GoW the day I finished it, it goes that fast.

Now that I have a ps4, I don't feel like spending 250pln on detroit but I want to play it myself so I will probably wait for the discount and buy used

If you were smart you could get a 20% off coupon on US PSN and get it for $48 USD, quite cheap for a digital day 1 game and I gameshare it with a buddy.

"Could" because there are none left.

How is that ‘smart’?

Buying physical then reselling is infinitely better? Or used then reselling? Fuck digital and getting stuck with it. Waste of money.

Anyway, almost finished my 1st playthrough, loving it So Much Win

It's smart if you wanna keep the game and not sell it I mean. Many people do that with Steam sales on PC. And I share my account with a friend so we pay 50/50.

Obviously if you don't collect games, it's always better to buy physical and sell it.

Damn, I must really battle my urge to replay a chapter the moment I finish it Laughing Great game. Next playthrough, I'll be huge dick to everyone.

When you replay chapters after the game is done, do the following chapters get overwritten meaning I'll have to replay every chapter after that? How does that work?

think that's right, especially for a game you really want day 1. digital wins if you can wait a few months - usually in a half price sale then, and used doesn't ever go much cheaper than that. I know you can still recoup a bit of cash by trading in a game you bought used, but to me its worth something to avoid that first world problem of disc swapping.

mind you, ive bought one or two digital games half price and have still regretted it immediately for being stuck with them (last guardian, elite dangerous) so it works both ways. man, i hate seeing those two in my digital downloads laughing at me Crying or Very sad

Played the demo.
Suffers from same ol same ol quantic shit gameplay, but the story element was beyond better than their previous shit I played.

Quite on the fence on this.
Someone sell me on this.

some people like these kind of "controls". it's fun to them and seeing the sales it's a lot of people.
it's okay if you don't like it but why do you even bother then saying stuff like "improved on the control bs in their games" then? Confused

Mainly cause as much as I like their cinematic games and their stories their gameplay elements and stiff controls rarely improve. Heavy rain was a clusterfuck compared to their previous qte adventure. Beyond two souls was a bit better. Walking around the victim house in this one was sluggish. I'm wondering if it is indicative of the entire game or just the claustrophobic demo.

Maybe means the movement, i played the demo and found the control and movement clunky and slow. Ill probably pick this up for 20 or so on black Friday, depending on the backlog and if I've finished rdr2 by then.

It feels like a tank driving in quicksand.
The ui is nice, but walking from place to place feels like a chore.

Yeah agreed, the character movement isn't the greatest, especially when you need to sneak in certain sections. Had to replay entire chapters cause instead of turning in spot, my character went forward to do a full circle around itself so that he turns around.

Edit: Also on this, in certain high speed/action situations your character will leisurely walk instead of running, breaking the immersion a little.

Just to be clear though, i don't regret the purchase, despite a few issues, the game is very nice, and well worth the asking price. Sure it won't give you 350 hours worth of entertainment, but it'll make for a pleasant saturday at home. I played it with my girlfriend and we got a kick out of it, over the 12 hours of a playthrough.
