This is games is really awesome, I can't believe I never tried any Yakuza game before. It looks and plays much better than I expected, gameplay vids don't do this game justice IMO. There is some weird shit, but most of that weird shit is fun. What really impressed me is the VA, it's top notch. Except some scenes with the usual Jap overacting, it's been done in a very impressive way.
The game opens up really nicely, I'm at chapter five now. At first I really didn't like Majima, but it suddenly became very interesting The game is deceptively complex, it seems very simplistic at first glance.
I can't wait for Yakuza 6. Will it be a confusing story since I only played Yakuza 0? Or are these games single story events per game?
story moves ahead so i bet you'll be confused. I actually finished Yakuza 2 just now. Amazing game, but a bit dated and some annoying graphical errors due to emulation.
There's also Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 - remakes of first two Yakuzas on Zero's engine. Second one was only released in Japan so far, but it'll come to Gaijinland in 2018 First one is available since last year (it's actually on sale in Europe right now). It should help to somewhat breach the gap between Zero and Song of Life. And hey, it's more Yakuza, so...
Chapter 6 was fucking crazy. I almost had some ragequit moments but they did the chapter in a brilliant way. How did I not get into this series earlier???
I was thinking about buying Kiwami also, but I don't know how much I'd like a remake of a very old console game
Man they dropped the ball on their own story. I hope they don't continue doing shit like this, because it's hard to take them seriously with such retcon nonsense.
Spoiler for Yakuza 2-beginning of third
Spoiler:
Karou and kiryu falls completely in love during the story. They have a date, which admittedly could have gone better
Kiryu doesn't want Karou to leave for Kansai at one point in the story, but it's ok, since she promises him come back.
And a fucked up scene: Karou reunites and somewhat bonds with her villainous brother. Atleast towards her, he's a good person. Kiryu kills her brother, and she's sad of course. A few minutes later she and Kiryu is kissing Man, i didn't know what to think
Anyway, she didn't want to live alone and chose to blow herself up with Kiryu since he was too wounded in the battle with her brother to get out of there before the timer went out. A good wrap and a good ending for the characters (ignition device or something was removed, if you're reading and haven't played it).
Then comes the third game. Seems to only be a few weeks for the second game's ending.
In the beginning Karou has been promoted and suddenly springs on Kiryu that she's leaving for USA for a few years to be an instructor. She says they have to temporarily part ways, but promises to be back and says she will look for him when she does..
Kiryu just tells her to follow her heart A stark contrast from the way he reacted in the second game, and after they had established as a couple as well
Haven't finished the third, but i was completely confused and googled a bit what the heck the developers were doing, and it seems she even finds herself a new boyfriend in the US after basically telling Kiryu to wait
This is the kind of stuff that annoys me to no good end :/
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
it contained the full game, it has been taken down already again ^^ it unlocked as full game for many people (two months prior release!) and reports say it was completely playable. if the 5.x exploits hurrys up pirates may play it weeks before its released, but remember kids: piracy is only a thing on pc!
Are they going to revoke the license for those who downloaded it?

This game is deceptively big. Once it opens up, it's a real time waster. The mini-games for both Kiryu and Majima are great. The only thing I don't like atm is Majima's story, I just can't get into it.
Yakuza 6 is being slammed by people who played it already when it was released in Asia, so that sucks
I'm midway through Yakuza 0 and it's just super. I'm addicted, can't stop playing. Playing that cabaret game is a time sink.
I completed this (the cabaret club) last night. Easily sunk in about 15 hours into it. I was literally addicted to it. Superb game. This franchise should have really been on PC.
If i can continue to play the game (no 15min countdown running) but on some parts of the streets, there is like a virtual Red-Tape that i can't pass. Forgot what the exact message was....
I finished Yakuza 0, what a ride it was. It's clunky, the humor is hit and miss and it's very Japanese, but it's so much fun and the story(telling) is sooooo good. I had a damn good time with it. Now I wonder whether I should start Kiwami, some reviews say the mechanics really show the age. I really want to see how Kiryu started though. So is Kiwami good enough without the pink nostalgia glasses?
