been wondering how far along the 3ds came and realized maybe it's finally time to jump in.
probably looking at a new3ds because might as well get the newest one with most features.
the way i understand it is that the best no hassle solution to sail is with a sky3ds+ card and whatever iteration of the new 3ds and no specific models required, correct?
would that also work with original ds games(which would just be a bonus) or is it strictly for 3ds?
thx.

Find a 9.2 N3DS and install CFW and you'll have everything available with a nice menu etc.
Or get a 10.6-10.7 N3DS, get a cheap used sky3ds (not +) and use it to downgrade to 9.2, install CFW etc.
CFW FTW
Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

i understand that you guys are fans of the whole CFW process and i've already done it way back when with the psp and the wii(both still fully functioning) but am personally gonna skip the time investment into the reading material because of work and kids compared to back then when free time wasn't really a luxury =P.
basically i just want the easiest solution that allows me to c+p games onto an sd cart and have it work without much hassle.
i've read that skyds+ provides that simple solution but just want confirmation from somebody who has tried as well as asking if it also works with old ds games which would just be a bonus.
the latter wouldn't really bother me if it was only available through CFW.

Yes, sky3ds is the simple solution. I personally don't see what the point is bothering with the asspain of running a hacked OS if all you want to do is run ROMs.

Phew, finally built up the courage to go through with Arm9loaderhax on 2 N3DS systems. Both went flawless, and now got 2 sweet systems!
This FreeShop thing seems hilarious too, Don't quite understand it completely yet, need to investigate further.
Good times to own a 3DS!

It's cool, but I personally refuse to use it since I want Nintendo to succeed. I don't mind paying for my games. That being said I buy physical only so I can at least trade them back in.

lol yah, it's an odd feeling... having access to the ENTIRE 3DS library for free, directly from Nintendo... makes me feel horrible, lol.
Starting to feel a bit bad for Nintendo.

on that flip side, it's good to test out a game for a bit then go buy it when you find you'll keep interest in it. Right now I went out and bought 3 games, no idea if I'd like them. Would be nice to demo them for a bit first.
Any other system I could care less but all my Nintendo systems, I have an attachment to. i never trade in games, I never sell the systems and always end up buying the physical media of games. Half the games I've bought for my gamecube I played for a few days then shelved it, mostly cause I like having the collection. I got quiet a few games for that sucker and all that I could sell it as a bundle for a pretty penny. Just wish I could get my hands on component cables.

Quote: | Smealum just announced the release of menuhax and browserhax exploits by hacker yellows8, on the latest 3DS firmware 11.0. These exploits do not require any game purchase or anything else to run, which makes them extremely convenient.
What are menuhax and browserhax?
Menuhax and browserhax are 3DS exploits that leverage vulnerabilities in the 3DS software. Once installed on the 3DS, they enable unsigned code such as homebrews and emulators to run on the 3DS. At the time of this writing, they are now compatible with the latest 3DS firmware 11.0.
homebrew_launcher
Other exploits for firmware 11.0 had been made available recently, but required some specific 3DS games in order to be activated. This makes exploits such as menuhax or browserhax much more convenient.
If you’re running on firmware 11.0, the two things you need to do is install these hacks as soon as possible. The Browser on the 3DS now checks that it’s running the latest version and will therefore be patched soon whether you update your console or not. So the process should be get browserhax as soon as possible, to install menuhax. Menuhax won’t be patched unless you upgrade to the next firmware whenever it gets out.
Confused? Here’s a quick summary:
1.Get browserhax and menuhax asap, make sure you install menuhax as soon as possible.
2.Do not update your 3DS if you want to keep menuhax.
3.Done |

Definitely smart to install menuhax if you're stuck on 11.0, but an FYI, there is NO software downgrade method on 11.0 at this time. Sit tight though, these guys are amazing.

That's only if I wanna play anything online. I'll be buying the games that I wanna pay online, super smash bros, mario kart and monster hunter is really it and MH is on it's way to me. Don't have to do private headers to update the game
