Thank god, I'm sure they were allowed to save face but were actually "un-hired" by Disney.
And yea you can tell they didn't know what they were doing. They worked well enough given the writing provided by GRRM but when that ran out.. we all know what happened.
Just happy I get to read the books where GRRM will fully embrace the fantasy aspect of it all and I fully expect the ending to be wacky as hell, in a good way.

Its much more likely they've seen what an absolute failure SW has been with the new SJW direction.. The new movie seems like a disaster. In the press release they mention how much they liked George Lucas Star Wars hehe, it reads a bit like a Fuck You to Disney.

There might be a source out there with some estimatives, but like you I'm just making the guess. The difference is my guess is slightly more grounded than your sjdubya panic.
Oh and BTW, source for them getting more money from their current projects (which are...?) than on what they might have if their SW deal went ahead?

Any release was written by Disney and they signed off on it. They were fired. You'll never hear or read that they were fired. They still got paid as they were on hold from other projects. But not full price.
Netflix is the only one that didn't fire them, cause they're going for the GoT fame to attract people. It's gonna be a bust since these two are hated.
Publicly they left the project, privately they were fired.
@Vurt sw may not be as big as it once was to the fans. To the studio it is. They'll throw money into getting fans. These hacks were hired, and promised good ol monies before last season of GoT. Then the season came out, it made them look bad, in turn it made star wars brand potentially look bad, and current panels and shit made it even worse. But don't fret, sw is a behemoth of a franchise for Disney. It may not be for fans, but Disney is throwing money at it to bring back the people they lost.

It's a conspiracy and you're free to have it. Mine is not, it's the statement we have.
Everyone who has followed SW knows that with Kathleen Kennedy SW has been a SJW disaster. Working for Disney they'd have to stick to those standards. Being "inclusive", pushing current "social issues" and agendas and so forth.
In the end maybe they just didn't put up with it, maybe S8 GoT was enough for them when it comes to ridicule, and they really don't want to risk it to happen again. Maybe there's a reason they pay homage to Lucas and not Disney in the press release..

Lol. 2 sw movies since return had major sjw tones. Tlj and solo.
That's it. Nothing else was riddled with sjw.
If you look for it, you'll find it even in older sw movies.
But forced sjw shit only occurred in two in the franchise return. And one of them wasn't a half bad sw movie.

That was kind of my point, that there might be a reason they endorsed Lucas and not Disney.. even the first (and horrible) movie in this trilogy was very "woke", the second more so, third one i don't even wanna think about.
Rogue One was pretty ok, don't care for the rest. I hope Mandalorian is decent.

What statement? The only conspiracy I see is you jumping at shadows from the evul SJW boogeyman 24/7.
I mean... have you seen GoT? Especially the last seasons with powerfruit wahmen being pushed front and center (some in a good way and some others, well... super stealth god assassin derparya, anyone?)? That wasn't these writers? Or do you think that was hbo sabotaging the writers in your nutjob conspiracy?

It got woke with Rogue one on a smaller scale, tlj went full out, and solo had the remnants of Wokeness.
Jj planned out the trilogy.
Tlj was written before tfa was finished plotting the franchise.
Screwed up jjs plans.
Jj is trying to bring it back to the original concept.
RoS will be like tfa story wise, following the og plot with ques taken from major plot points in tlj.

And the release was written by Disney or approved by. As all releases are. They're very protective of what is being said about the franchise/company. If they wrote it, disney had to approve it. Either way disney had a say in what their 'leaving sw project' release said. Simples.

Read the official press release. There's no conspiracy from me, i believe the official word, it works with or without the possibility of Disney's "wokeness" having anything to do with it (probably not, it was meant as a counter conspiracy.)
Women aren't exactly depicted in an especially favorable light in GoT overall, plenty of evil ones, very few fat lesbian ones  very little about "current social issues" really. Not even a woman took to the throne in the end. Main woman of the show proved to be the main villain. Nothing out of the ordinary that makes me think "WOKE!". Is it a fan favorite over at Reset Era etc? I doubt it.

2) they aren't doing it because S8 was a failure(?!). With 161 Emmy awards overall i don't think a big studio could care less what many fans thought about S8. And especially not Disney (....have you seen the latest Star Wars movies, do they seem to care about the old hardcore fans?). Also it's been quite a while since S8 aired..
Btw... they also decided to not go forward with Confederate due to the NetFlix deal.. so you're gonna have to come up with a theory for that one too then i guess, or maybe it's really not too odd that someone can't take on all these projects simultaneously and there's no conspiracy behind it (it very rarely is...)

There's nothing on their statement that states they're leaving because disney is too woke, you suggested that. Sansa and Yara were both queens in the end, Sansa even pretty much seceded from Westeros. It wasn't exactly woke, but the stuff with arya was just dumb.
As for my "conspiracy":
1) I think disney told them to fuck off due to 2) but both parties agreed on them to say that they don't have enough time.
2) They aren't doing it because disney is overall scaling SW stuff down for a while now, especially on the big screen. Nothing to do with S8 and 161 emmys (). Rian movies gone, this gone, at least one or two other planned movies gone too.
Now let's see, according to you, which conspiracy theory I'm thinking about that led to them axing Confederate
