When I think free speech. I think the multi billionaire that spent 1/2 his worth on buying a social platform so he can control what is said, and banned people that mocked/criticized his account on it within the first few weeks of owning it.
The guy that confuses "Free Speech" with "Me speech" is not our savior
We may need one, but he ain't it.
He just promotes a certain political point of view and caters to both right-wing edgelords and authoritarian regimes. The exact people who profit from the general confusion.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Exactly, and even if he could save free speech, legitimately save it. I'm not sure I'd want him to be the one to do it. As I feel he would never shut up about it, waving it as another 'I am perfect' flag on the internet.
And give the fanboys more ammo of how he is infallible, godlike, and savior of everything and more buffer to compensate for his general douchebag-ness he is to the world as a whole in other ways.
sort of: We saved free speech, but at what cost?
We don't need the tech billionaire version of Che Guevara idolization: P (Edited for a more apt person)
ehh I thought companies are free to choose where they put their ads? So much for a guy that believes so much in freedom he wants the state to rob them for him.
I'm with you fire, they are spending the money. If they want to stop they don't even need a reason to, in my eyes other than "We don't wanna"
To me it's like saying McDonalds is suing you because you and your friends stop spending money there and going somewhere else. Even if it was a group decision, they cant tell me "Too many of you got together and decided to eat other places, so we can sue you"

You are entitled to fuhrer spuch, as long as you don’t track his plane, don’t say anything about him, esp. be critical of him, and advertise on his “public square” “bastion of democracy”.
Fuck likes and such. Get it the fuck out. People are not honest due to "like" farming, and people will railroad you if you have "wrong" opinions due to "like" farming. Fuck that shit
I asked earlier in this thread what Mr. Musk wants to accomplish with buying Twitter (he overpaid by billions)? I think I know the answer now: Influence on politics, promoting certain politicians, steering the vote of the people. Trump's Twitter account got reinstated very soon after Musk acquired Twitter, right? This is not good.
Rest my case.

European judge has just declared x too small and insignificant to be considered as a gatekeeper, so they don't need to follow the very strict rules as google and amazon
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

- The video suggests Musk's support for Trump is a desperate bid for a future presidential pardon to avoid legal and financial repercussions if his businesses collapse.
Here’s a summary of key points from the transcript:
6. **Musk's Political Shift** : Elon Musk initially criticized Donald Trump for being too old to be president but later began backing Trump and Ron DeSantis in what is described as a desperate move to secure a presidential pardon, fearing the downfall of his businesses, especially Tesla and SpaceX.
7. **Financial Struggles and Dependence on Subsidies**: Musk’s businesses, particularly Tesla and SpaceX, are financially strained. Tesla is struggling with declining sales and stiff competition, while SpaceX's revenue is limited, largely dependent on government contracts and subsidies. Tesla's stock is also deemed significantly overvalued, which could result in a massive market crash.
8. **Musk’s Contradictions and Business Failures**: Musk's handling of Twitter (now X) and alienating advertisers has caused the company to lose a significant portion of its value. Despite his claim to run it neutrally, his political endorsements contradict that. The speaker draws parallels between Musk’s management style and corporate failure, predicting that if Tesla collapses, the fallout will be catastrophic.
9. **Desperation and Manipulation** : Musk is described as using financial manipulation, such as offering money to swing voters to sign petitions for Trump, while also benefiting from massive government subsidies for his businesses. His tactics are portrayed as an effort to maintain influence and avoid legal consequences.
10. **Bravery and Stupidity**: The transcript criticizes Trump for presenting himself as brave for holding rallies in unsafe conditions, labeling it as stupidity rather than bravery. Musk’s argument that Trump’s character shines under pressure is dismissed as flawed logic, with historical examples showing that bravery doesn't equate to good leadership.
All of Musks business is dependent on government money, yet gubernnmint derp state bad, because his followers gobble it up.

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and a linchpin of U.S. space efforts, has been in regular contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since late 2022.
The discussions, confirmed by several current and former U.S., European and Russian officials, touch on personal topics, business and geopolitical tensions.
At one point, Putin asked the billionaire to avoid activating his Starlink satellite internet service over Taiwan as a favor to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, said two people briefed on the request.
Musk has emerged this year as a crucial supporter of Donald Trump’s election campaign, and could find a role in a Trump administration should he win. While the U.S. and its allies have isolated Putin in recent years, Musk’s dialogue could signal re-engagement with the Russian leader, and reinforce Trump’s expressed desire to cut a deal over major fault lines such as the war in Ukraine.
At the same time, the contacts also raise potential national-security concerns among some in the current administration, given Putin’s role as one of America’s chief adversaries.
Musk has forged deep business ties with U.S. military and intelligence agencies, giving him unique visibility into some of America’s most sensitive space programs. SpaceX, which operates the Starlink service, won a $1.8 billion classified contract in 2021 and is the primary rocket launcher for the Pentagon and NASA. Musk has a security clearance that allows him access to certain classified information.
Knowledge of Musk’s Kremlin contacts appears to be a closely held secret in government. Several White House officials said they weren’t aware of them. The topic is highly sensitive, given Musk’s increasing involvement in the Trump campaign and the approaching U.S. presidential election, less than two weeks away.
Musk didn’t respond to requests for comment. The billionaire has called criticism from some quarters that he has become an apologist for Putin “absurd” and has said his companies “have done more to undermine Russia than anything.”
Walter Isaacson’s biography of Musk said the businessman travelled to Moscow in 2002 to negotiate the purchase of rockets for his fledgling space program, but passed out during a vodka-heavy lunch.
No links now because mobilefag but apparently this guy is the real fake gamer girl, as in he paid someone to level his character up to 150 in poe2(I think) so just he could flex being good at the game

I don't see the hype in talking about it personally.
Elon is ruining social media, exploting workers, sponging the govt for money, trying to use the govt to ruin his competition, and trying to squeeze NASA funding to push Space X along with 100 other real-world things.
But I guess the 'tea' of him buying a game account and lying he leveled it is newsworthy. It's ALL over my YouTube since I play PoE2 and watch videos on the game. I have to wade through them to find actual PoE mechanics videos now.
I honestly think on a scale of 1 to 10 it's like a 0.5.
Why is this conversation worthy? Tons of people buy accounts and lie about being good. Is it because he is famous? Is that what makes it 'juicy'?
I'm not saying all the above can't be talked about along with this. I honestly don't see how it is interesting beyond "Hmm some dude lied about being level 90 on his own in PoE2....ok"
Reminds of me the constant side news of Trump cheating at golf. OK. And? Is that it? Just that he cheats at golf? Is this worth time to write, and me read about?
