Not really, i mean if it doesn't have a proper ending (e.g ends with a cliffhanger) then i would agree.
I'm 100% for shorter series, skip the fucking filler episodes.
"'Squid Game' creator says he had to split seasons 2 and 3 because it was 'too many episodes.' "I originally envisioned seasons 2 and 3 as a single story," says creator Hwang Dong-hyuk."
It was very obvious I don't think it's true that 14 episodes is too much though, like wtf is he smoking
I have mixed feelings about this season. They've focused on "old characters" for the 2 episodes, then they've introduced a buch of new ones quickly for the purpose of the games, but in the way that I don't feel attached to any of them. I don't know how to explain it, but I've watched season 1 and 2 back to back (to refresh my memory), and none of the deaths in s2 (except the last one), made an impact on me. Considering s3 will most likely also have 7 episodes, that gave them enough screen time to properly work on the introduction of a new players, and they didn't do it.
It is still a good show worth watching, but there is so much wasted potential.
Spoiler:
And the whole "escape plan" in the last episode is just dumb. The whole idea of let O's kill enough X's so guards come in and we steal their guns by pretending to be dead? Come on.

Spoiler:
I like how there were no emergency blast doors or anything else between the sleeping quarters through to command. Just one mask needed to open the only door that put up resistance. Which for some reason they didn't override temporarily.
And to initially get out they just shot through the glass

IMO it was all part of the "special game", I mean, do you buy that k-pop kiddo was a "square" mask leader? They sent cannon fodder down there and they wanted the revolt to happen (of course counting on Gi-hun to have the balls to try it and maybe encouraging him "a little bit"), otherwise what was the point of Front Man infiltrating the contestants?
I might be wrong but that's just like... my opinion, man!
I found the season to be a kind of irregular, with a good start, a very strong middle set of episodes (the games themselves are what the show really excels at) and then it got weaker towards the last couple of episodes. But all in all I enjoyed the ride, especially found the cast to be very solid, even actors who only got a few seconds of screen time, they really looked and felt like people who were in their desperate situations in the middle of one of these "games".
Hopefully the writers produce(d) something more cohesive for the third and final act, we'll have to wait and see.

I do think the point was to let them think they had a chance. Main baddie did play along for quite a while.
Season 2 started strong. It felt a bit different in tone compared to the first; the writing wasn't as good as the first season (no wonder since the guy had 10+ years to perfect the script) but still a strong start. From episode ~4 it was clearly weaker.
Spoiler:
Why did they change the rules of the games? It made it less interesting. The games themselves aren't even close to as stressful to watch as the first season; less tension. The violence is also turned down a lot. I guess it was done to make the show available to a wider and younger audience. A pity. Oh well. It's still a good show though.
Well of course. It added a Shitflix token trans and shoved him front and center, and treated him with the utmost delicacy. Making it way less edgy, so to say.
