It's quite weird if my 12900k is not sufficient though
It's not, sadly. Check out my DLSS 2 Vs DLSS 3 comparison video (also recorded with a 12900K). From 1:45, which is where the gameplay segment starts, DLSS 3 completely removes CPU bottleneck in both Quality and Performance modes (but mostly in performance).
Well, dlss 3 quality runs worse even with that amount of fps. Easy to see. Weird direction development is going
But i cannot fathom how this is the issue. I mean your solution of activating dlss 3 fixed it, but what about everyone else who doesn't have 4090? gonna have a frame jumping fest throughout the game? Feels like there is something wrong with my system
Found out the problem! Nvidia drivers had this issue where hdmi 2.1 would go out of sync. I left my TV on 60 hz as it didn't seem to lose sync then. And that was the problem! now it runs smooth as a baby's butt even without frame generation horseshit. Yes, the game looks to run worse with it on.

How do i activate dlss 3? I've got a 4090
You need to activate Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows Graphics settings.

So is the first game worth it? It always failed to interest me, looking like a very long escort mission. (I hate escort missions)
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I'd wait for Last of Us They just ripped off that idea; escorting a "special" kid with a stronger character. Mechanics are pretty much the same, but this game is more generic when it comes to almost everything.
First one is worth playing, and I'd like to try this one too. But the performance issues seem obvious reading through the comments. I'll wait to the crack
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
I hope the DLSS implementation is growing better over time, I just can't bother using it standalone in RDR2 as it looks terrible by default as soon as you move an inch - you have to remove sharpness altogether and tweak stuff on your own for it fighting against the Shitstar Launcher to look remotely decent. DLDSR combined with DLSS + no sharpening looks a loooot better.

I got it for free on the EGS store anyway just never bothered to try it, like the many other titles I have in that account. Maybe I'll just play both. (when I get the time)

The first game has a very remarkable atmosphere and some genuinely charming writing, which make up for its fairly limited gameplay loop. It doesn't come off as insulting though, and the quality storytelling + environmental-based puzzle-like mechanics work well.
This sequel is too much to handle for my trusty potato, I've added it to the eye candy backlog alongside Flight Simulator and Cyberpants. At least I'll have something to look forward to when (if!) I'll finally level up.
Think this is a bit worse tbh. There is too much gameplay which makes it feel artificial when knights appear en masse out of nowhere, and apparently get perfect strafe routes before you arrive even if by all rights you should be ahead of every knight.
Sections are stretched to infinity almost, and while not feeling super wrong, it does sometimes make you think this place shouldnt be this big.

Same. Just started it last night as I have heard good things about it. At one part of it,
Spoiler:
I was running and got killed a couple of times because enemies caught up to me and I have no idea why. I was running at top speed yet one enemy just always seemed to catch up. On the third try, I made it to the river.
So far I am enjoying it. The story is really good so far. Stopped at the church part but looking forward to picking it back up tonight.
