Well the series is awesome. I'd like some more slice and dice but it's good for what it is
It's 100x better than the original series with Richard Chamberlain; it was good too if I remember correctly.. although I was very young when I saw the series and I might not like it nowadays.
Isn't there only one book? If the series covers it all I'm fine with just one season, why risk fucking it up by pulling shit out of your ass? Especially with the writing "talent" from Clownwood nowadays.

If there was anything i disliked it would be how quick he was to assimilate. Felt like some weeb who finally moved to Japan. Of course he's not always like that like when he wants his ship and his men

Ah, I didn't know there is just one book, I thought there was a whole series in that case, yes, keep it 1 season. But hopefully the ending will be satisfying, with all the build up so far. I'm actually liking the romance parts too in this (that diner scene and tension was something out of a Tarantino movie), but it's moving forward at crawling speed.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
It's not done yet, there are 10 episodes but it'll not be enough, that's for sure.
Btw, apparently, this is a series of books after all. But each book stands on its own, about a specific era in Japanese history, all the way to the 20th century.

No there are only two books about Japan - Shogun and Gai-Jin. They are all parts of the Asian Saga and are loosely connected via the imaginary Struan bloodline and the eponymos company.
In my opinion Gai-Jin should not be made into a series at this point before they do Tai-Pan (the best Clavell book IMO).
