I actually also got this used and recently played it through for the first time.
Liked this game a lot and it looks really good, but I do admit that some story choices left me questoning the actual need of them.
Overall though it had a powerful story that I was interested to follow.
But ya the first minutes got me cringing due to "Bigot sandwhich", but it gets better the longer you play, imo.
I bid on a used copy and got it cheap, have to check out the fantastic graphics at least..
How long does it take before you have to play the "transwoman"... it's towards the end i hope? at least that will give me some value for the money because i'm not interested in finishing it.
You're avoiding half of this game because the character you play is trans? Really, in 2021? I mean jesus, I have played the game and didn't even know she was trans ffs.

"it" isn't trans (well, according to cuckmann), i just think it's a stupid character which makes little sense.
I couldn't care less about it as long as its something well written. we'll see i guess.
And yes unfortunately it's 2021 and characters like that are no longer well written, it's all about politics, making strange statements or virtue signaling and not about story or making a belivable, likeable character.

Dont tell me you coast through your life letting popular opinion dictate your way of thinking
There's no trans character in the game but the way the game pulls the rug from you and makes you control Abby after she and her group killed a certain individual was complete horseshit. Abby takes steroids which is why her body is like that.
I expected to be only controlling Ellie from the start to the finish, only to find myself burdened with Abby who also bloats the game length. None of her segments were fun and I found myself quickly coasting through them to play the Ellie parts.
And yes, the story has the subtlety of a sledgehammer and the themes it tries to tell have been told far better. So going in expect some good gameplay, animation and graphics but it will be soured by the characters and story.

So this is really a part of the story or it's something you just have to assume?
It's easy to see why Cuckmann made it like that and why he's also said people who doesn't like that part are the people who needs to play it (because he wants to punish them, give them a lesson). There's a reason he put up a certain dead character on Father's Day too, it's a day that the Left pisses on and uses to show of their hatred towards men and especially fathers.
It's too bad he's wired that way. The first game, and the expansion (which does have a slight LBTQ theme, which i was ok with, it doesn't get in the way really), was great, i was sooo looking forward to this game up until i started reading interviews that yes part of the idea is activism basically. The politics took over No gamer should be ok with that. We play games for entertainment, not to be punished because we are men or similar bs..
@Vurt: That part is shown via the gym in their base (I kid you not with a number of weigh lifting equipment in working condition ). Near the last hours of the game due to certain reasons she returns back to her original scrawny form. Sadly, the end is utter bs which may have worked for a film but not for a 25-30 hour game. I now firmly believe that Bruce Straley as the game director of TLOU1 should be credited for the all the good parts of the game and him being absent here is very, very evident.
Another thing that annoyed me was that TLOU1 was called the origin story for Ellie so I fully expected a sequel with her as the lead so this bait and switch nonsense with Abby was garbage.
I still haven't finished the game right after starting with Abby. It was such a big letdown in terms story telling.
Might as well wait for PS5 Upgrade at this point.
That is the whole point of the damn game. To make You play as Abby.
Believe me it's worth it. She is the best part of this game ... just stick with it

There is Lev who is trans since the scars call him "Lily" and he/she was suppose to be one of the elders wife.
But Lev wasn't badly written character and they didn't force feed you any agenda in my book...it was a few lines after a combat and that's it.
Playing as Abby was at first kind of annoying due to what happens, but the more you play it gets better and you start to feel Ellies actions more.
@Proekaan Oh yeah, I forgot about Lev entirely but the game was filled with forgettable characters I don't care about the gender or orientation of anyone btw, was clearing it up for vurt. I'm miffed at how we got a bloated game where Ellie had to share the screentime with a one dimensional character.
I also couldn't take the game seriously because of the pathetic way they handled the whole cliche "cycle of violence" which made me facepalm and hard at some many unintentional laughs I had. In the end I couldn't give a crap about anyone other than Ellie and Tommy. But holy hell that final battle was so stupid
I've played for 2h, maybe a little more. The atmosphere and graphics, sound are, as i would have expected, 10/10... as for the characters, i've just played Abby once, so far that was fine (actually i liked playing her more than Ellie, just because the part with Abby was more intense - alone in the wintery forest).
Maybe i end up liking it, like some kind of cuck? that would be funny
I do tend to be easily bewitched by graphics though (since i just play old games or indie games which all looks like crap), so when that spell wears off i might see things a little bit differently.
Nah, i just can't take the horrible combat. I got to some mission called The Horde, just enemy after enemy, gave up.
I thought the SJW'ness of it would kill it, but up to that point it wasn't too bad.. I didn't really mind the combat in the first game, it felt less combat heavy. I do enjoy the occasional encounter in these games, i mean the clickers are fun and scary i think. great design. A slower game with strategic and sneaky combat against those and then perhaps a very few fights against the standard infected would have been a better design. I hate the combat in the Nathan Drake games too (i can never remember the main title of those games lol) though, i find it clunky as hell.
Perhaps i'll pick it up later but i doubt it. It was cool checking out some of the graphics at least, really makes you wonder how next-gen graphics will look from e.g rockstar..
Naughty Dog has written a story outline for The Last of Us: Part 3, but isn't making the sequel right now. Creative director Neil Druckmann says he hopes it can "one day see the light of day."
Once patch 1.08 for The Last of Us Part II is installed on your PS5, you will find a toggle in the Display options that allows you to choose between a Framerate Target of 30 FPS or 60 FPS. This allows you to choose your preferred framerate to complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as an enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.
Shame i didn't buy it before when it was $30 on sale but i didn't know if they plan a remastered version or PS5 patch, will wait for sale again.
It's 30 bucks again on PSN, gonna get it this time, would thought that it will be 20 bucks by now as it's been a year from release but Sony deals are not so good this year lol.
For preparation i replayed the first game so i can't wait to see how things turns out.

First 2 hours, one of the best looking games i ever played, looks great, and the new 60fps option makes it smooth, the image quality is clean and i'm very satisfied.
So far no need for shiv to kill a Clicker! Thank god.
Abby is cool dude i like her.
Very good, I'm only at the beginning riding with Dina, game is awesome.
And done. What a hell of a ride, will stuck in my head just like the first game.
Performance, graphics and gameplay are all top notch and an upgrade from first game. This is a worthy sequel.
Now for story:
Spoiler:
I like the story, sadly i've seen spoiler about Joel before playing, but not how, so i expected Abby to be the one, i also figured out that Abby will be either Marlene adopted daughter or that surgeon Joel killed in first game.
But seeing the story unfold was and will be memorable.
I like Joel the most out of all the series characters, seeing him dead and flashbacks was one of the best moments. I did expect that a sequel to the first game will involve the Fireflies revenge.
Abby is awesome imo, nothing feels enforced on you, there are musclent woman irl, and she still feels like a woman so it all feels right to me, she's just and awesome character.
2 moments that felt weird and perhaps out of place is when Abby can kill Ellie, but let here live, i mean after she killed all your friends and especially the men you love.. seems like not so logical.
And same for endgame when Ellie already beat Abby and can drown her but eventually let her go, tho in this moment she had a Joel memory so that might what let her not killing Abby.
It just seem unnatural to go so far to kill someone that hurt you, then at the final moment let him live.
And the ending, fuck so good, just like the first game, kinda like a cliffhanger but just so awesome and great moment.
I can't think of story plots that they didn't answer in this, like we see that Ellie discover what happened, and confront Joel. You see Tommy and Maria, and the Fireflies revenge. I felt satisfied.
Now for The Last of Us 3, if there will ever be one..
Not sure i want one tbh... I mean again Ellie vs Abby? Nah will be ridiculous for them to fight again, i do want to see the world again, one of the best parts are to check every location and see the letters people left behind, but really i can't think of a worthy plot for a third game.
It took me 40 and some hours, did every safe, locations and etc, the world they created is truly fantastic.
The moral of the story is that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Both the protagonist and antagonist ruined their respective worlds by seeking revenge. In the end revenge seemed futile given what was lost.
I was expecting much worse given the hysteria surrounding the release. I really enjoyed the game and the direction the story took. All three of the main characters can be viewed as the hero or villain depending on your moral compass.
Glad I waited to play on the PS5, although it was slightly annoying that it took halfway through NG+ to achieve platinum
I agree the story was ok and not as bad as people made it seemed.
But the story is definitely one step behind TLOU1, and some parts are really slow and useless, I think the game is actually too long. Still it's a great game, but like I said back then when TLOU1 was released, I still think the Uncharted franchise is better.
Arrg this game. I love the first game for its story and gameplay... but this one! I cant fucking stand a single character. Every teen is gay and they only talk drama and seduction. Fuck is this?
