The only problem with the pirated version is that you have to lock it to 30fps for the final sequence, otherwise you can't button mash fast enough to complete the final mission.

to bei fair, the multiplayer was pretty much dead already 2-3 years ago. probably just some russians still playing this (with cheats anyway)
i rather have a legit working copy of the game without multiplayer, then to deal with this gfwl crap again. you could get it to work with xliveless and all but it was a pain in the ass.

Only a 4690k @4.3GHz here but it still runs pretty badly. And even without all the stuttering and low fps you still have issues with some textures just popping/glitching out,.
This POS still leads by far the worst port ever award

With AMD cranking up the core count and single threaded performance dropping, it seems like going forwards that a lot of these 360/PS3-era games are going to need a dedicated old hardware box to run well.

On Steam you can disable auto-updates for a specific gmae, right? And you can also back it up and restore it (without having to download the current version).
Correct?

Wrong. If a game has an update Steam will insist on updating first. For some games you can bypass this by directly launching the game but it doesn't always work.
I've cursed many times in the past when a game with mods insisted on updating breaking the mods so I had to wait for the mods to get updated as well before I could continue.

So my problems resolved: downloaded music files from steam guide https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1372047571 and renamed folders of DLC. Now original music only is playing, so far no chrashes.. .so hopefully it is safe.

You can certainly block automatic updates for games. You need to right-click on the game -> properties -> updates -> only on launch. And then you need to modify appmanifest_APPID.acf file in Steam installation folder and change StateFlag to 4, BytesToDownload to 0, and the UpdateResult to 0. Make file read-only and it will stop automatic updating. Not perfect, but for the few games that you don't want to update it'll work.
PC: Yes. Console: No.

Fun fact: I have never finished this. Maybe like 20%. What's the best graphical only mods? I dont want anything whacky, just the best graphics for how the game is supposed to be
