the gameplay is really shallow crap in the worst way, its not realistic enough to be a "sim" like gt or forza, and its not fast and fun enough to be an arcade racer.
the handling just feels really bad and simplistic, more like a half assed racing side mission or mini-game in a shooter or any other genre.

thats the best way i can explain it, it just doesnt have a proper feel of speed and weight.

codemasters bought evolution studios now, or lets say not the company but they took over the whole team which now works at the same location on a new racing game for codemasters. another grid disappointment incoming Very Happy

perfect devs for a shallow grid game.

I mean come on, after Dirt Rally they HAVE to return to their usual bullshit.

But well, the devs might not be too bad. Maybe they can make something deeper if they have to.

Wasn't dirt a huge success for Codemasters? Maybe they will understand that there is a market for "hardcore" racing games.

sure it was a success, at least the whole early access stuff with it. i doubt it will sell good on consoles though.

but iirc dirt rally was developted by a very small studio which isnt (or wasnt) part of the main devs of the other crapmaster games !?!

Just found out there will be a Driveclub VR and because of this, they had to optimize the game to make it run at 60 fps on PS4.

Makes you wonder why they didn't do it all along for the original Driveclub ?

the neo will not have enough power to bring steady 60fps for games running normally with 30fps on "current" generation of ps4

And you know this how, exactly? Wink If the rumoured specs on the GPU are to be believed then the card could easily be close to double performance.. something in line with the 7790 existing card being upgraded to a 7970/280. That can make the difference between 30 and 60, especially if the games in question are only capped at 30 originally and not limited to 30 by performance constraints.

More than twice as fast actually, if the rumours are correct.

Aside from the CPU speed bump helping a bit to keep things steady and give it a bit more headroom, the GPU also receives a (fairly modest) 13% clockspeed bump .

And doubling the CUs (Compute Units) from 18 to 36 will obviously quite literally double the power, but it may very well turn out even higher. With that doubling, they don't just double the amount of shaders. Geometry and texture units get increased. Because of GCN, it also allows even finer grained balancing of the load.

if they render the games in 4k then i dont see how we can expect anything at 60 fps, unless they properly let us choose between 1080p and 4k, with the performance improving accordingly, but i doubt it.

Nah they had it demoed on the current PS4, but they had to tone down the GFX.

Got this and started playing, finished Rookie championship. Must say that once you get used to controls, it's great.

Got the M235i and love how the drifting is at your fingertips, you can make the car drift if you want, otherwise it's very very stable.

While on hot hatches, drove the Mini GP most of the time, except the manufacturer races ( golf gti was very jumpy) and you could feel that the cars behave differently.

I don't like the engine sounds, seems like all turbo charged cars have the same muffled sound.

Gfx, cars and vistas are incredible.

Since EA lost the Porsche license, anyone knows if we're getting any ingame? I know there's RUF, but still Very Happy

Its only 7 bucks on psn but its still 30 fps, I need my fighters and racing games at 60 fps, even on consoles.
Besides, the game still has this unsatisfactory handling that falls between arcade and sim, but is neither of them really.

Go grab the PSVR version if you want a 60 fps version of it.

Although it really looks like shit and barely looks like the original Driveclub. Too much of a downgrade.

I thought Robinson was the worst for nausea.

I'm used to it now anyway and barely have any motion sickness anymore in any game.

Problem is, as a result, I'm less immersed than before.. kinda like when you are used to 3ds 3D effect and don't notice it anymore. It's similar now.
