And we got the first driver testing positive.
Quote: | BREAKING: Sergio Perez will not take part in this weekend's British Grand Prix after testing positive for COVID-19
He is self-isolating and we wish him a speedy recovery
Racing Point's driver line-up will be announced in due course |
That's most likely a drive for: Esteban Gutierrez or Stoffel Vandoorne
Though Stoffel is a stand in for: Merc, Mclaren and Racing point (in that order) if I remember correcly. Would be nice if he would get a fair shot at a competitive team for once.

And its Hulk, bit surprising because I don't remember him being on the designated reserve driver list. Every team had to hand it in to FIA and FOM before the covid season started. Since they would also go through the covid testing schedule.
Reason why I didn't list him even though he made the most sense with his background.
Ah well, let's see if he fucks it up right before getting a podium again.

I was about to fall asleep at some point today, then Pirelli started its own drama show. Such a clusterfuck, it was a thrilling ending though

I think I never saw an unlucky driver like him lol. Next week maybe he has another chance.
Great race by the way. The midfield pack is tighter then ever.

I tried Indy 500, 8 laps and I turned it off. Monaco is more exciting to watch.

Whenever you think Ferrari can't get any worse they manage to surprise you, being overtaken (quite comfortably too) by Aphatauri and Alfa Romeo was honestly just sad to see. And Monza isn't going to make things any easier

Yeah, that was a painful moment.
Well, they got themselves to blame with their weird engine antics. Even the timing of bringing that 'cheat' by Fer was typically Fer. Just when you have 2 seasons locking engine upgrades. Apart from some minor updates, they are fucked for next season as well.
Wonder if the FIA is going to give them some special treatment.
And those radio messages of both drivers... no wonder the strategy at Fer was usually a bit of clown show.
I did have a good chuckle with Kimi passing a Ferrari though. I wonder what he was muttering under his helmet.

@Morphi: indeed..I like to imagine Kimi awkwardly smiling as well, which is an event that happens once every 10 years or so xD

Yeah the penalty needs to be completed before they cross the line 3 times.
And one or two more laps wouldn't have helped Hamilton much.

And those 5 seconds wouldn't have helped. He'd still be chasing the pack after the pit stop and if we look at the end times: he finished 8 seconds behind Ricciardo.
I also had a bit of a problem with you calling Macca daft for not pitting... mind you, you are working with hindsight. They had very good track position with a car that was genuinely fast. Ofcourse they aren't going to pit when they can't foresee a red flag.
When you listen to Sainz's interview he mentions it as well. He just got unlucky with the session being red flagged which meant the ones in front of him could put on fresh tires as well.
Anywho, in the end we got a good race thanks to chaos.

Mugello at some point looked like a random Coderpmasters F1 online lobby, what an absolute clusterfuck
Felt nice to see some proper F1 action in there instead of the usual private tests, although it's obviously a track that suits slower categories and MotoGP better. At least no one got injured and the extra-long straight before San Donato provided some DRS bunga bunga. Ferrari was not amused, as per tradition.

Yeah, it was scary as hell..53G crash, the car split in half and 30ish seconds spent inside that oven, he's a very lucky man. The halo, fireproof suit, super sturdy cell and the medical car nearby definitely were vital factors. I thought he had lost consciousness but all of a sudden the helmet fortunately appeared on camera and he jumped out like Terminator
There wasn't much left of the car, though the cockpit definitely did its job:

Mercedes' race today was Ferrari-esque, to put it mildly xD
It also confirmed that Hamilton is comfortably the luckiest driver
All kidding aside, good for Perez, checoman deserved a win after all these years

Yeah that was pretty exciting all things considered, it reminded me of the Mugello clusterfuck from last year - with the additional randomness from having wet-ish conditions
It's not easy since the Merc power unit is still a beast (all of them really), but I hope we can see a tighter battle for the championship this season between Hamilton and Max. The mid-table action is as entertaining as ever, there's a generational clash as well between the talented young drivers and all the good ol' veterans. Seb's still cursed but at least he'll be happy to see that he's no longer the spinning king with Mazespin around
