I don't believe the whole story about "it bend while in my pocket and NOTHING out of the ordinary happened"..
I guess it went something like "i raged and took phone in both hands and it bend while i was raging, now i need to think of excuse".. (thinking of this, since i did the same with my One S once hahah, but it didn't bend tho, only to the side the metal somewhat deformed).
No way with NORMAL proper lifestyle would a phone bend while in a pocket..
Maybe with a fatty in skinny jeans that goes sit down and the phone got bend under the fat weight?

People talk about it because it s apple.
It would have been some unknown brand, no one would remotely care...

The issue is not people putting the phone in their pocket.
The issue is people putting their phone in their pocket with keys/change in their pocket, or bashing the phone on a table or something. |
The people who claimed their phones got bent in their pocket also claimed they didn't have anything in their pockets and that it was a 'light nudge' into someone etc. (notice how I say claimed as there's no way to back up what they've said is true or false)
My point was that the phones should be able to take 'some' lighter punishment as they've become so intertwined in our daily lives that you won't be able to avoid at one point or another putting them in your pocket.
Sort of like my wristwatch, even though I don't want to bump or braze into the edge of a table it still has happened, it only left a small scratch on the glass instead of breaking the watch (which can be fixed if you just polish it). |
I don't think you understand what they means by pocket. They mean the BACK pockets, not the usual front ones.
Do you ever put your phones in your back pockets ? So you can sit on them ? How comfortable that is. Hell that s also a great way to get your phone stolen in the street or in the metro... |
"Yesterday, I left at 10am with the iPhone in my left FRONT pocket of my suit pants. I drove 4 hours to a wedding, which also involved a lot of sitting during dinner etc but also 2-3 hours of dancing. I left at 2am and went to bed, driving home 4 hours back."

So this person and others are claiming they have it in their front pocket when it happened.

well, as expected more cases of bending keep piling up. if you bend your phone you are fucked, apple won't do jack shit. their claim that they will exchange devices was just damage control in front of press.

I think they only replace them in the retail apple stores.

Test shows normal one bends more "easily". Don't give in to the silly propaganda, if you love your bloated phone, stick with it. Don't let this nonsense be the reason you switch to smaller.

Hey if such a technology exists, where you can fold your phone like that and it continues to work, I'd buy 5.
