I received everything but the case and mobo yesterday! w00t!
Is there any important info to know before starting to assemble everything? I know about the static stuff, remove it be touching the case before starting to work with the components, but beside that?
What is the best order to assemble stuff?
I was think putting the power supply and the water cooler rad+fan in the case, then assemble the ram + cpu on the mobo, put the mobo inside, put the CPU cooling pump, HDD, DVD, and graphic card and then start connecting everything.
Am I missing any steps?
Also another question, my graphic card (GTX 770) has 2 PCI slot on top, one is 8 pins (4x4) and other 6 pins (3x3). It also came with some small cables that has a 8 pins connectors on one side, and on the other it's like a 4 or 5(6)? pins connector, but they are in line. What is this used for? I tought I could just use the cables that came with my PSU. Do I need to use that?

Dont use those PCI-E power adapters (they are meant for old PSU´s which doesnt have them built in), the PSU has own PCI-E cables.

Most PSU's made this decade have two 6+2 cables for the GPU (ie. if you have a GPU that requires two 8-pin contacts you put the 6-pin and 2-pin together before pushing them in.
My old PSU had a 4+4 CPU-contact, ie. it supported both simpler/older motherboards with a 4-pin CPU power-connector and you could pair the two contact together and press them into the 8-pin CPU power-connector.
Plan your build before you begin assembling so you know where all cables will go without interfering with the air stream inside the case.
Then assemble the motherboard (ie. CPU & RAM and preferably cooler depending on if your case has a hole for the backplate on the back) BEFORE you put it into the case (take a good look at the motherboard so you learn where everything is. Oh, insert SATA-cables before assembling as well since it'll be somewhat cramped in there when cable-hell is a fact due to the PSU and all other cables and stuff. You can also prepare the control-pins (for reset/power/etc.) for the same reason as above.
Once the motherboard is in all you have to do is slot everything in and connect them to the already plugged in and cable-managed motherboard (SATA etc.) and PSU.

Check the motherboard manual - it should tell you what the LED is. It's probably either a BIOS indicator, or Boot Device indicator. Maybe some settings aren't saving in BIOS, or the Boot order is a bit screwed?
Edit:
My mobo has a Boot Device LED Indicator, but the manual doesn't say what it does, so maybe check BIOS settings and Google it if it still happens?

Well I tried googling it but found nothing (Asus Z-97A)
That's weird. I even changed the graphic card to another slot, still, same problem.
Computer boots fine, can play games no problems, but if I restart it for let's say, a windows update or a driver installation, i'll get no image and a red led will pop on the pci-e slot next to the video card.
But if I press power, wait 2-3 seconds then power again, i'm good to go without any troubles!

Strange... Maybe something to do with some BIOS settings and the PCI-E Lanes? You could check for any BIOS updates, then go through all the PCI-E settings in BIOS.
If it's running fine then it's not too bad, but that would seriously start to annoy me after a short while.
Also, maybe check the settings in GPU-Z, make sure that everything's being reported correctly. It might be there's some issue with the GPU that's only being set-off on a restart (unlikely, but since it's new, you may as well try and diagnose the problem when you can easily return anything that's broken).
Edit:
From the manual:
Quote: |
POST State LEDs
The POST State LEDs provide the status of these key components during POST:
(Power-On-Self Test): CPU, memory modules, VGA card, and hard disk drives. If an
error is found, the critical component’s LED stays lit up until the problem is solved. |
So, definitely an issue with the GPU, but I don't know why it only occurs during restarts and not cold-booting.

I think the problem started after I went in the bios and use the "EZ Wizard turning" stuff to auto tune my computer.
Is there a way I can revert the bios back to the original, out of the box state?

I may buy that, or maybe, if that exist, a cable with a normal male usb3.0 on one side and the other side a female 20pin usb 3.0 socket.
So like that i'll be able to connect it on the back of the case, to a standard usb 3.0 port on the mobo. I'll lose a port on the back but I rarely use them. Only use 3 for my mouse, keyboard and wireless usb adapter.
SO MANY POSSIBLITIES!!
