Accidentaly started gow3 and it is jawdropping but had to stop. I am keeping to the order so Started Uncharted. just past the uboat now and the game is GREAT. There is not enough of this genre and the game sure looks nice for what? 2007 game?

Even after a couple of hours the console fans are quieter than 360 with game installed.
The air is mildly warm. Something along lines or cooler than back of my elite after couple of horus. But man... compare the sound of this when playing to jet engine disc drive 360 when it had no ability to install games, I wonder why 360 was leading platform in the beginning. ps3 is a stellar hardware especialyl for its time

360 was the leading platform because the SDK is simpler and thus most multi platform games are much better optimized on 360, so it's perfectly logical.
In the end, even nowadays, only PS3 exclusives look that much amazing. Multiplatform games are sometimes still lacking (I say sometimes, because Tomb Raider which was developed on 360 as the lead platform, looks better on PS3... But it was ported by Nixxes who are used to PS3 ports now). Usually PS3 ports are outsourced by shitty dev who are still learning....
But yeah welcome to the club of PS3 master race, Sony has the better exclusives and always had. I think that MS exclusives are too much for call of dudies youngster (GeOW, Halo...). They had Fable and Alan Wake that felt like what Sony is used to develop though. Not that I'm surprised, remember guys, Microsoft refused to have Quantic Dream on their platform, it's their loss. David Cage had asked MS first before Sony and they declined.
That shows what/who MS is aiming for with the Xbox. I always thought that Sony dev had more freedom and it shows. Not sure what MS is aiming for with the Xbone though, but it seems the same to me with the usual Titanfall, Forza and upcoming Halo...
Although I gotta admit, Forza is a great franchise, and much better than Gran Turismo that died for me with GT5. That being said, PlayStation now has Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream, and that is enough for me to be a Sony fanboy

Well dead rising1, alan wake and gow trilogy are all fantastic games so xbox have good exclusices too.

there is somethinf wrong with thw system. Not sure if ita the cable or my tv or ps3 itself. The system is turning on, greenlight, accept disc and seems to work but its not displaying anything. No signal. I hace to fiddle around and turn tv amd ps3 on and off a couple of times and then it finally workd. Is every ps3 like that or only fats? Or maybe its broken

this PS3 seems to be dying, it's not normal.
And GeOW trilogy isn't fantastic, kinda of boring
And yes, Uncharted 1 has a boring gameplay and too much corridor shooting, not like I didn't warn you

fats do that when they CPu got to hot , you need to open it up and replace the thermal paste

I am not sure this is the problem. I am booting the system with ps3 controller wirelessly. Thr guide says that in this type of failure its impossibe to assign a controller
edit.and the system eventualy starts after few tries so how is this a hardware problem

Have you tried resetting the video settings yet KC?
Power off the PS3, then power it on but keep your finger on the button for 4-5 seconds. You'll hear a second beep, to signal that video settings have been reset.
Considering your TV isn't technically 1080p, set output to 720p too. Don't rely on its "support" for 1080i/1080p.
Hmmm I've talked my buddy into selling it to me.it is a 2009 40gb model fat. Barely used. He only finished couple of games. Not even 300 hours and never even played online. He is very pedantic about his stuff and takes huge care of it. He never opened it or even touched it. It was also standing in well ventilated place. No scratches or anything.
I've played uncharted for 6 hours and it was mildly warm from the back. Fans were spinning at stable tempo doing a nice huum sound. It is quiet. He says he never had problem with it on his tv like i describe and he have not used it for a year
But i need to check what is going on with problem I've described before. Will try resetying video setting, using 720p, switching hdmi cable and display.
And one more thing. It froze on me once in uncharted1 when monsters were introduced. Restarted console and played more no problems

If you feel it's worth it, then take it. At the same time, if you feel you can find better, well, that's up to you.
I bought mine for 155€. Phat 60GB model, but came with a 500GB HDD and with the 3.55 CFW. Also came with three original games (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for example). In superb conditions, working flawlessly. Best deal I ever made.
€100 isn't bad at all, especially if it was kept in as good condition as you say it is .. BUT! I would get this video issue sorted out first, because this *is* a phat model and they don't last forever. If this video issue isn't your monitor and rather a fault on the PS3, paying €100 isn't worth it.
Ive resetted video settings and changed to 720p and now it seems to boot on first time. Lol and it looks better.. what a shitty tv. I need to try it on monitor where it's final destination is. I hate playing on a TV. Monitor is infinitely more better quality and my chair is very comfy. been playing 360 games since 2008 on pc monitor. I will do it once I get my hands on av cable for sound
If You guys want I can record a video how it sound etc but i think its quiet. When disc is inside You can hear only laser.
I will still be testing this no signal issue. Never can be sure if its gone. He said he never had this happen on his tv. And i can asure You. Even tho ita old fat model, it is like brand new console. He is very careful person who rarely uses his stuff. Its that kind of guy who keeps his ohone in pouch and dont let anyone touch it ever
It is CECHJO4. I will just use it for a month and if ther will be no problems I will give him 100e other than returning. I can even pay it i 2 payments. He really did not wanted to sell it but realized after talking with me that he does not use it and could just get superslim instead of this. also - he will take sixaxis and give me new dualshock3 if he will get super slim model
btw completely new retail ps3 superslim 12gb model is only 145 euro. I might always just consider that. But a)This one is really like new b)looks better c)couple of games are included and hard drive is bigger

40gb seems to be enough for me. No movies or anything and not every game require install. I can always swap the hdd if I so desire

That's the type of flash memory on the board; the first few series had NAND flash, this one has NOR. Important to know with regards to what can be done through hardware flashers
Edit: if it wasn't clear yet, that PS3 could be downgraded (and then get CFW) if you wanted to. Requires a hardware flasher, so not something you'd do yourself, but I'm sure there's places in Poland for that too

Yup! Getting a new PS3 for €145 is good, but it's only 12GB out of the box and it can't be downgraded. €100 for a 65nm Phat in great condition is really good, especially as you can downgrade it. Find someone to do that STAT

Downgrade now! Yes, exclusives are cheap now but the list is HUGE. You'll spend eventually more than 200 euros for all the games.
Next moves:
1) Downgrade - Apply CFW
2) Download the games
3) Plug in the external HDD
4) Profit. Save your money to buy a PS4 in 1+ year.

Honestly, I'd survey your local market for modded ps3s first. Here in the us I can pick up a modded ps3 within 3 miles of me for $140. I appreciate things might be different where you are, but it sounds like your mate's console might be on the way out.
