And again
So that's 1 out of 5 where we didn't take the gold (still bronze though ), twice where the whole podium was ours

http://www.ibtimes.com/winter-olympics-2014-speed-skating-continues-be-dominated-netherlands-why-1554557
Quote: | In winter months, skating is a sensible form of transportation, as commuters skate along frozen canals to visit family or friends who live many villages away. Much of the country sits below sea level, so it’s frequently not a particularly arduous journey to travel by skates.
The Dutch begin wearing skates as toddlers, so for some, skating is as common as walking. Some travel for hours and hours on their skates and see nothing strange about it.
Hajima’s father, Hotze, said he once skated 230 kilometers (142 miles) at the age of 29. He didn’t seem to be boasting about it, just making the case that there was an occasion when it was necessary. |
Just what exactly do these American channels and sites think our country is like? Are they really so goddamn retarded that they think we walk on clogs, have windmills every 50 meters, do nothing but eat cheese and smoke weed while we grow tulips unless we go ice skating for a couple hundred km to do one of our drug runs?
Sure, there are people who do skate long distances, but that's for leisure, not fucking transportation and by the sound of it, they interviewed the two dumbest people they could find in our country.

Fuck all your silly sports with wooden planks, sticks and what not, because oops, we did it again
Fuck knows what got into our speed skaters this year, but they're kicking some serious ass
Gone is your 2nd place Sev, that's ours again now. We're at 17 medals in total now (5 gold, 5 silver, 7 bronze), that's just nuts for a country as small as ours. And most of it from a single sport.

Yeah, our skaters did amazingly well so far. Of the 10 male skaters we've got competing in the speed skating, only 1 has not gotten a medal. Completely owned 3 out of 5 events. The women are not *as* dominant, but are still doing very well indeed - we've got 19 out of 27 medals total and set 3 new Olympic records. 3 women competing in the 5K too and we've still got both team pursuit races to go
Still got a chance on the shorttrack too, both male and female.
The only other two sports we compete in are the bobsleighs and the snowboarding and that isn't great so far, although the women are currently in 6th in the 2-man bob I think. So they can still move up in the final 2 heats

Wow, Latvia - Canada, what a game! Would have been fun to see an upset here. I predict a USA win in the semis.
