My father (67) wants to buy a tablet between 200-300 euros... Well I guess he'll mainly play Sudoku on it and surf a bit. I think the 720p ones at 10.1 inch should be enough. I guess the only important thing is, that it doesn't fucking stutter on webpages during scrolling, that it has some easy to use UI and good wifi reception. A camera should also be there for the occasional skype session. Any recommendations?

Huawei Mediapad 10
http://www.amazon.de/Huawei-MediaPad-Tablet-PC-Megapixel-Android/dp/B00CIXF89A/

My father uses the 7 inch version of it since a bit over a year. And we are both very satisfied with it. Build quality it's also pretty top notch.

There are also some pretty good "China" tablets around that price. But sadly forgot the name of them Sad

Anyone have experience with Lenovo tablets? I'm thinking about getting a tablet.

Mainly it will be used to watch anime and light gaming maybe.

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is just soo expensive.

Was thinking about Lenovo Yoga 10'(can get it for $100 cheaper)
and Nvidia Shield Tablet?

Thoughts?

checked out samsung galaxy tab s in the store. screen on that thing is phenomenal. finally a tablet with OLED and perfect black levels. Drooling

ipad for example has horrid black levels, everything that should be black appears grey. i've no idea how that shitty screen got so much praise, fucking hype and fanboyism.

oh and before iderpan starts screaming that galaxy tab s is over saturated or whatever bullshit he'll come up with: http://www.displaymate.com/OLED_Tablet_ShootOut_1.htm

basically screen is so ahead of competition it's not even funny

only important thing for deciding which tablet to buy: is the bitch under heavy custom rom development. if not, just do not buy it... badass OLED and perfect black levels or not.

not everyone is into flashing custom roms all day every day, you know? but from what i saw tab s already has some custom roms if that's your thing.

If you change the colour profile. Black levels are to be expected, it's AMOLED. Black means the pixel is turned off, so it doesn't get any blacker than that.

Out of the box it is typical Samsung oversaturation, with colours that "pop". You need to set it to one of the two accurate modes for accurate colours. It's nice that they offer multiple profiles finally though.

Just a shame that it's still Samsung, which most likely means crappy software just like on the Tab 2, 3 and 4. All of them held back by both bloatware and an unstable modified version of Android. Maybe they finally fixed that too.

Sadly Samsung will never ever learn how to make stable and fast software it seems. Same as for the design of most of their mobile devices.
Doesn't help that they try to push their Exynos SoC in every device nowadays, instead of a Snapdragon for example. I can understand they want to reduce costs by using own hardware, but even with theoratically 8 cores the software runs like shit at times.

And look at their new Alpha phone, the Iphone killer Laughing
I don't like Apple either, but if i had the choice between the new Iphone and that Alpha, i would take the Iphone without hesitations.

at least you can delete/freeze/disable bloatware with titaniumbackup and similar programs, unlike certain completely locked out tablets from certain company.
