It's okay but it reeks Canada, I think American shows are way better.

Is it just me or did her personality/acting became different this season. Just something feels off and she actually annoys me.

I get the same feeling. There is something off with her and it pisses me off too.

Did anyone watch the last three eps? Any signs of a bigger budget, i.e. more scifi?

No, its even worse now.
I watched the 3 eps yesterday and all sci-fi elements together must have been 5 minutes total. At least the cinematography is slightly better.
And yes, something is off with her, especially in the first episode she seemed kinda frustrated.
Better watch Defiance now, which I also started watching yesterday, at least it has some proper sci-fi elements.
Though so far its not much better than Terra Nova, its like Terra Nova with aliens.

Canadians shows are normally shit cause most of the crew has to be Canadian.
So Canadian DOP (which working in Canada you end up shooting well, but the neediness of creativity is lacking.)
Canadian sound (usually good)
Producers, budget, cast (mostly canadian)
Set designers.
It blows.
it also costs more to get the show look and feel american.
Colouring/Editing/Fx
It's a sad industry here held back by old rules and regulations.
if you can make a text fade in AE you can get a job.
But if you're advanced in AE good luck...
The industry suffers from hiring kids straight from school and pay them intern fee (ie. free labour)
Most american shows are shot in Canada tho
Hannibal shot in Toronto.
Suits. Shot in Toronto.
Few others as well.

S1 was good, but S2 not so much so far. It feels like the overall direction/portrayal of some of the characters has changed, especially the heroine and Alec's roles.

Yea, the last few episodes were really good, and I liked how the finale ended. So many directions this show could now take in the next season with the characters.

The scond season is enjoyable from ep four on, but it's still mediocore. The writing is so predictable, I facepalm myself everytime these "intricate" conspiracies come up. Okay show, keeps me watching.

I like it. Although, second season was kinda weird. The main character felt really out of place compared to first. There was just something different about her.
