As long as it's not Crybaby and his Panties winning it, I honestly don't care all that much who wins it. The Wings are not going to win it, so my team is out anyway.
The Pens-Flyers series, while entertaining, has had some really bad hockey. Worse than junior hockey in everything but the offense.

The NHL is in charge of the joke of a tournament.

Wait, for some reason I thought you meant the IIHF World Championship - which has always been a joke.
The World Cups have always been some of the best competitions outside of the Olympics. I kinda dislike the extra 2 gimmick teams but it's a commercial tournament so they can do whatever they want.
The main issues that the IIHF championships have: limited number of NHL players attending and lots of trash teams can only be solved by the NHL. IIHF like FIFA strives to "develop" hockey around the world so they can't exclude all these pointless France, Kazakhstan and Germany teams.
And there is no way for them to make NHL players attend.
If the NHL is in charge they can invite whoever they want and they will be interested in having their players in the torunament.
The mixed international team is actually quite nice - since it gives the fans someone to root for even if their national team is crap. The under 23 team is pretty bad though as it would somewhat weaken the other teams.

First thing I see when I open up this thread is this. I have respect for every team but the Flyers, I can't fucking stand them, or their shit headed fans. I celebrated when caps knocked them out of the playoffs, fuck those dirty cunts.

Tomorrow Hawks play the Blues. My butthole was clenched the entire game on Saturday, seeing them come back to spank the Blues 6-3 made my fucking night.
My cousin's a Penguins fan and they're really the only ones who stand up well to the Caps so it's going to be interesting to see if they can take down the best team in the NHL.

Why would you want the Hawks to win(assuming you're not a Hawks fan)? The only way the playoffs become remotely interesting is if the Blues kick out the Hawks.

I wanted to see Florida win because they're so lovable, but now that they're eliminated, I want the Hawks to win just to see everyone lose their mind.
And also because they have Dutch Gretzky on their team.

So, the Penguins won.
And Las Vegas will get its own team. They'll start playing in the 2017-2018 season.

It seems weird, but overall it makes sense.
They're aiming to grow the sport, so they go to cities where Ice Hockey is not that popular yet, but there's a market for it.
They sold tickets for the games before the team was even announced and they got enough sales to confirm there's an interest in it. This means that they'll get the funds to run the team, and then later on grow interest and get new people who didn't care about Hockey before. That's the main goal here, converting new people into fans.
And also betting on the sport and offering very pricey tickets to the games as prizes in the casinos and shit like that.

Seattle is supposed to be getting a team as well. There's a little "fight" over my state getting one (Wisconsin) but Milwaukee is so close to Chicago, Chicago is fighting Milwaukee getting a team becuase it'll be intruding on their already established market. Hawks will always be my team but it'd be cool to have a team here as well that I could actually go see.

A missed opportunity if the new team from Las Vegas isn't called Jokers.

The league wants a team in Seattle soooooo badly. Back when they expected Las Vegas, Seattle and Quebec City to apply for a team, they said they would add 2 teams to the league.
Then Seattle failed to get their shit together in time to apply before the deadline and only Las Vegas and Quebec City applied. Then they decided to add Las Vegas and will add another city later on.
So, the league is holding out on Seattle, who will get an automatic entry in the league (after paying the 500 millions for it). Quebec City will likely get a relocation, once a team in another city fails to earn enough money.
Haven't heard much about Wisconsin tho. The league will probably take a break after adding 2 teams, since it tends to piss people off due to the drafting process. (Teams losing their players to the new teams)
Maybe after that break, Wisconsin would be in the mix.
