My launch console is red ringing and I've tried to repair it twice myself, and none of the fixes will stick for more than a month so i'm thinking about picking up a new 360 and tossing the old one.

Will this work regardless of what new model I get? Do i need to keep an eye out for certain DVD drives or serial numbers or anything similar?
