Wow, this thread... 1.5 years have passed already! But there might be hope... Rinze recently increased the sig size limit, so maybe he is willing to do the same with the avatars. Or allow off-site avatars, even better. No, they would not go out of control, because they are not automatically played or loaded. You must click on the play icon for the video to start loading.
