Ah that's the big question eh? Well for me it was a no brainer... ever since I played the crap out of the original, I've always wanted to play multiplayer of some sort... and BOOM they re-release it with multiplayer functionality! My dream come true!

The extra classes are amusing too. But for me, I was sold on the multiplayer addition. It's still the best tactical rpg out there, I'd highly recommend it. Smile

Thanks for your opinion ... however without the multiplayer addition (i'm not interested in it) i'm unsecure about investing so much of my free time for it ... give me a yes/no quick answer: will you (re)play it even without mp ?

why are you asking someone else if you should replay it?
It's the same game with some enhancements like cel shaded FMV cutscenes with great voice acting, 2 new classes as well as some new battles and new translation which actually makes sense.
But at it's heart it's still the same game. So the question for you is... do you feel like playing it again? If yes then go ahead and get it right now!
But if you feel that you just aren't in the mood to play it again then just don't because it is the same game. It's definitely not worth playing through it again just for the new stuff if you don't want to experience the story and battles again that are unchanged.

For goodness sake, the horrid slowdown completely takes away from the experience. I can just imagine how badly summons slow down.

I won't be playing the PSP version, until some fix is released. Which may be never. FUCK!

Summons actually run a little different and do not suffer from the slowdown. Razz

So summons are unaffected of slowdowns? Any other useful abilities than "attack"?

Sounds ok if thats the case.. i've just played for like 10 hours spending some time leveling using normal (fast attacks) maybe i should actually continue and finish the game then! My ps1 was stolen including my memcard with 50+ hours logged back in the time when this game was released. (just a few battles short of the ending) ive alyaws been planning to complete it either emulated or on a new platform...

It is strange how some review sites are not even mentioning the slow down in the game. Game trailers rated the game a 9.2. Not once in the video review did the guy mention glitches or slow down. Strange.

Unless the reviewer never actually played the original and assumed the slowdown was normal.

9.2 rating is way to high for this game, the slow down should bring that score to an 8.0 or something. At least that is what I would give the game.

actually the reviewer does mention the slowdown close to the end of the review and says that it's not gamebraking and was in the original PS1 version as well.

For me it's not really annoying anyway... execution of the attacks that you order is only a fraction of the time you spend in battle, and then only some of those attacks will give you slowdowns. So what if the attack takes 2 seconds instead of 1 second. Does it really matter?
I think you're just looking for an excuse to not play the game or something. If you actually wanted to play it then you wouldn't mind a minor annoyance like that.

@ surray : i'm just trying to get all the info i could about it from people that play it before buying or even dling and trying it, since regularly reviews forget about aspects of the game they should mention.
Asking to someone who loved, just like me, the original if he would replay it without the mp feature is for me a valuable comment, even if it won't assure 100% that i'll like it.

Anyway, many thanks to you and stooz for your opinions & info !

There are only 10 kinds of people : those that understand binaries and those that don't.
