Not all the games are cartoonish though. You must be an inbred to think that wipeout is a better racing game than Mariokart DS though.
All those mario games out? There's only 3. Mario and luigi partners in time, mario DS and Mariokart. All of which are better than any of those games mentioned!
would you say sonic DS (if you have even played it) is a bad game because it keeps with the traditional 2D cartoon graphics? It is easily one of the best sonic games ever made!
| Quote: | | There's alot more upcoming games coming out for PSP, If the dev's think there is little hope why would there be all these upcoming games coming out for it? |
that's just it. there are hardly any games comnig out for it! And those that are making games are just trying to salvage a little bit of money and with more dev.s dropping out of the market there's a better chance they're going to do it. I wouldn't hold my breath on a new developer taking the reigns of the PSP and launching it into a frenzy.
Name me 5 upcoming games are are going to sell a lot of units. I can tell you now that the new super mario bros, zelda and metroid will easily sell a million.
| Quote: | | And who cares about a touch screen? Well I'd love to see you play a master piece like Kirby on the PSP! |
From looking at those screenshot's i don't think i would want to , I've already said i'm not interested in the touch screen. Some are, I'm not. You don't need a touch screen to have good gameplay.[/quote]
You've not played the game therefore you cannot comment! simple as that. Basing a game which i'm backing for the sole reason of GAMEPLAY and then countering it with it's appearance is the type of justification you'd get from a child. And just so you know, the graphics on kirby are smooth and suit the game brilliantly.

| The Register wrote: | Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) sold 185,000 PlayStation Portable handheld consoles in the UK this past weekend, smashing the previous three-day record, set by Nintendo's DS in March.
Sony's sales, said market watcher Chart-Track, which provided the statistic, makes the PSP's UK debut the most successful console introduction in the territory yet.
The PSP went on sale in the UK on Thursday, 1 September, and Chart-Track's total combines sales on that day plus those of Friday and Saturday.
Nintendo sold 87,000 DS handhelds in the first three days' of the device's availability. |
DS is beating PSP in SOFTWARE sales for sure, however the DS is not doing very well compaired to the PSP in hardware sales. This of course depends on when you look though, as PSP shortages did account for some slow months.
Although, the above is the european markets.. if you check the Japanese market things are very different..
But.. we're not from Japan now are we ? Either way the 2 machines have both flaws and perks, depending what you want, as I first stated, you could choose either device and be happy.
Sublime and Crash, your both wrong, pull your head of the companies asses and answer peoples questions based on what the console IS good at, not your own love for it.. |
I wonder why it's been flashed all over the news recently that the Nintendo DS is the fastest selling console in history ...something don't add up
I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

I can tell you now that they will all flop. GT was the biggest hyped PSP game and that flopped quite a lot too. The DS took it's momentum from nintendogs through to mariokart and Animal crossing. I don't know how many

By current total sales, the Nintendo DS is out-selling the Sony PSP by 3 to 1 in Japan and America and 2 to 1 worldwide with over 14.4 million units sold (That's a 4-1 ratio)[16], as of January 2006. Recent figures have shown that Nintendo owns 83% of the worldwide hand-held market, with the Game Boy Advance holding 48%, the DS at 35%, while the PSP holds 13%. |

On November 21, 2005, Nintendo announced that out of the 112,000 copies of Mario Kart DS sold in the United States during the first week of release, 52,000 (45%) of those buyers had connected to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. [4] Comparatively, 18% of Halo 2 owners connected to Xbox Live within the first three weeks of its release. [5] Mario Kart DS had a better launch in Japan, where it sold 219,000 copies during its first four days of availability, the third best performance for a Nintendo DS title after Animal Crossing: Wild World and Jump Superstars. On January 2, 2006 Nintendo announced that Mario Kart DS had sold over one million copies in North America alone, joining other titles such as Super Mario 64 DS, and Nintendogs. |

Many retailers are sold out of this game due to its popularity, and some sites, such as EBgames.com, restrict sales of this game to one per customer. |

I can't find specific information for PSP titles selling well at all but as you can see the DS is whooping it's arse.
edit: oh and by the way final fantasy on the DS will outsell the PSP version as will children of mana!

Why does everyone with a DS have a chip on there shoulder. ffs
You like the DS, good for you. I like the PSP.
Oh thats right, The DS is a childs machine, how silly of me to forget. JK, had to take a stab becasue all you DS lovers are way to easy to get excited.
Buy a PSP, i still love mine. And i dont think the ISO scene is totally dead, we just need some new skilled coders. Heck POP revolutions didnt come out that long ago.

Ugghh.. I have posted possitive feedback for ALL the devices.. I am however defending the devices your slagging off without any fucking clue as to what they can be used for, my opinions are being backed up with solid facts and are without doubt completely UNFANBOY like. Yours however are very clear..
"Buuhhh.. I have a DS, it has two screens, I have sex with mario kart on lonely nights.."
In reality everything you have said in this thread relates to the console you paid for. I have stated many many many many times that all of the consoles have they're pro's and con's, you have simply said "DS rocks, the rest suck" ..
Its easy to determine what to say in response to someone wanting certain criteria.. if he wants a large selection of games then its a DS, if he wants graphics and out of the box media its a PSP, if he wants community development its the GP2x.. Simple? For you the DS is all of those, and this is not the case, it may have them all, but it is not the best at them all, not by a long way.
Anyway, Im sick of even trying to actually help people when surrounded by .. well.. you

We now need to wait for Sublimes 'unbaised' opinion on this. , But i agree with some of what you say most of the games are milked to death. |
So nintendo spit out sequels to games. At least they're not ports and get better and better with every twist and turn. You can't say that you've played through mario, mario 2, mario 3 mario world etc. and not enjoyed every one of them. Mario sunshine was a bit of a let down but even so returning to the 2D games is a breath of fresh air.
Also I go back to the saying... if it's not broke why try to fix it? Nintendo DO keep things going at a steady pace and update.
And as for | Quote: | | if it whas up to nintendo we would have PSP like handhelds by 2069! |
you don't think that nintendo has made the most breakthroughs in the gaming industry? First of all it was the first to have a home entertainment system that rivaled atari. It then had the first handheld system. It improved graphics and then again. Right now it's toying with the revolution which is a different route to microsoft and Sony's marketing of 'more power will win.'
I can't wait for you 'fanboys' to laugh at me enjoying my mario kart and revoultion whilst you're trying to delicately wipe away the tears that have splashed onto your PSP screen from watching spiderman 2 for the 50th time.

I got a Gameboy (the original one) for my 4th birthday and I was sold to nintendo.
Since then I purchased a GB Color,a GB Advance and a nintendo 64 - until I first saw a PlayStation.
From then on I bought a Playstation 2,which IMO was better (I don't have many experiences with the GameCube).
So then my friend bought a PSP and I had to check it out.Fell in love again = bought one too.
I'm not saying I hate nintendo,it's just that I prefer Sony now.
I can still have fun playing mario, you just can't compare the two (PSP - NDS)

so polarium isn't original? Meteos isn't original? (it's even better than lumines)
I think you'll find that quite a lot of games on the DS are originals. Think of pac pix or yoshi touch and go! Kirby too. You've failed miserably crash and you know it.
Maxie... we all know that the PSX won because of piracy. If most houses didn't have a chipped playstation or a way of playing backups i'm pretty sure it wouldn't have had such a strong market. the fact that the games were a resonable price made it a very good system for the balance between piracy and sales.
The playstation had a huge games database but generally I found myself playing my N64 with my few cartridges (in relation to PS games) more than the playstation and 100's of games. There aren't many PSX only games i'd still play today, the best one's - fifa 98, Tony hawks and final fantasy 7 were on other platforms. As for the N64 it had mario party (1-2-3) Turok, goldeneye, perfect dark, donkey kong 64, banjo kazooie and tooie, Super smash bros and blast corps (underrated game!)
As for the Gamecube, it came out too late. Games like resident evil 4 (when it was a 1 console game) jungle beat (another innovative nintendo game might I add!), Metroid prime, Zelda, and Super smash bros mellee are all great titles but I personally wouldn't buy the console for these (and a few other good titles) but they're still good none-the-less. (Also I might I add I already have a GC collecting dust)
Lets look at some comparisons as to what sony and nintendo have actually done for the games industry.
Nintendo:
Brought it into the home
Put it in the hand
First to try out new (failed) ideas such as virtual boy
Innovative game design such as Wario ware inc. and Donkey kong jungle beat not to mention it's bold move with the revolution.
Sony:
Can't think of anything they have personally done themselves! They just copied other people's ideas and made them 'better' in some ways. However successful they may be I think they should go back to trying to recapture the music industry and make an innovative stand-alone music player. I dont want quality to be lowered to substitute for another service!

OMG... You need to stop reinforcing how much of a nintendo fanboy you are. You are not helping your arguement.
And the statment you made about PS1 being more popular becasue of piracy? Is complete bullshit.
Everyone and there dog knows why the PS1 became so popular. And everyone knows why Nintendo still held there market after the PS1 was introduced.
The PS1 went for a new market, the more adult players.
N64 kept its same marketing strategy as always, good family titles.
The N64 and PS1 were both great systems, that sold alot of units; not becasue of piracy. But becasue of sound marketing plans by each organization.
Each system has there positives and there negatives. I loved golden eye, played way to many hours of 4 player MP with the boys. But i also loved tekken, tekken tag, etc.
But to be honest i would never have bought a DS, period. I didnt even check them out when i bought my PSP (First week of release) becasue i knew that the PSP did everything i wanted and more. I stopped with hand helds at the game gear, becasue the games were very kiddyish, like most of the DS games. And lastly, the PSP looks better, and has a better/bigger screen. I would be embaresed to pull out a DS on the Subway to work, but i use my PSP everyday. I dont even consider the DS to be in the same class as the PSP. Its like a VW vs a BMW. Its like a kids toys vs high end electronics.
So teach each his own right.

LOL, just kidding
anyway i had 2 PSP's, one before the firmware hack with wipeout, ect, ect as a Jap import which i sold soon after and then when the ISO scene took off i got another 1.5 Uk version of which i've sold on afetr about 2 months. But i do have two DS's one on release here in Uk and just recently brought another and gotta admit the Ds gets played everyday by the whole family still where as the two PSP's i had wasn't so they had to go.
Not dissing the PSP as it is a nice bit of kit - BUT i did find it just rehashes of older PS2 games that i've already played before and the dvd and multimedia side of it didn't really appeal to me esp with those damm UMD movie price ripoffs - where as the Ds athough again are sequels like the PSP but are brand new adventures in most cases with the added touch screen, mic & wifi. - just edged it for me with its fun factor.
worst thing that did cheese me off was that i always had to keep cleaning the damm shiney PSP screen from fingerprints, lol
BTW Meteos was made by the same team who did Lumines, Meteos just beats Lumines in terms of fun.

Both are nice. You can do stuff with the NDS, easy connect to your router, and play online by whirless. Pretty cool. And the painting thig... But tho, you get what you pay for, not anymore.
So psp ftw

What painting thing?
and mcmanic my exact thought entirely.
And the PS DID benefit from piracy. No game was massively leeched (it was just before firesharing took off) so it still benefitted from sales but nearly everyone knew someone who could copy games and they'd in turn borrow a game off their friend, copy it and give it them back.
you might argue that the snes had the wildcard DX... but when you compare the prices there's no contest! the ps = £10 to chip at most.
