How could we even know if the terrorists do negotiate? I am not sure of everywhere elses policies but in the USgay they won't negotiate at all, supposedly.

Accelleron, you hit the nail on the head bud.
Despite what people tell themselves, or whether they try to hide it or deny it, people, in general (via general I mean a massive majority), fear/hate change. Its in our psyche to view change as dangerous/not good/insecure.
Also, the vast majority of people are more comfortable in looking up to someone else to make a decision, being led, via a leader. You may be the most confident person on Earth, but deep within yourself, you WILL find an inkling of a voice saying "Is what I am doing right? Perhaps someone else knows better than me how to handle this situation".
Don't get me wrong...I realize the above statements will probably viewed as largely stereotypical, but I believe Accelleron was dead on.
As a person...I read that...and nodded my head. The words were spot on to how I feel, despite that fact that I hate to acknowledge it.
My 2 cents worth.

"change requires change" refers to having to change ourselves in order to change something in the world, like these terrorist acts. We don't like change. Who said that the individual suiciders want attention? They don't give a fuck; They want to progress some shitty cause or just end it... I don't give a fuck what they believe after they've been processed by any extreme religion. I see people processed by the mild type of religion daily and it fucking sickens me. What these people go through in the extremist camp is beyond me. But that is beside the point. The ones that want attention are the leaders of the organization. If nobody gives a fuck about your cause, you stop getting recruits and your cause dies. Al Quaeda, Hamas, the Catholic church... none of them have the resources to change the world. They try to use the limited resources they have to spark change by recruiting followers and binging themselves into the public (and therefore the political) eye. Oh, wait...
