Meh. I dont care about that. These things are practically non-existent to buy in UK stores. If the only option is 2nd hand then so be it! Bidded on one which started off at £50 and ended at £350 but I won!
Spoiler:
I dont think its too bad a deal and it looks to be in mint condition. Just need the camera and Resident Evil 7 now!
I've finally got the PSVR a couple of days ago. I preordered Resident Evil 7 but I doubt I'll get the game until Monday now. Playing the demo at the moment but man I gotta get over this VR nausea bullshit!
Any tips or advice? Is the retail game any different to the demo in terms of control and movement to avoid any discomfort?
I think it's the smooth rotation with the right stick that does it. It could be the Rigs demo I played beforehand though. I couldn't handle 5 minutes of that game!
The Kitchen demo was short as fuck but so awesome!
I tried the Resident Evil demo again last night and I actually felt more comfortable doing more looking around rather than turning as much with the headset. Also walking slowly is a big help. I was able to play it longer the 2nd time round but again it's still somewhat nauseous. Especially coming down the stairs lol.
I also tried playing the game using the cinema mode and whilst not as immersive it was still pretty great to play and I think better than playing on my TV.
I'm still eager to see the retail game in VR but if it involves a lot of action and fast movements like running away from someone or something that does not bode well for my VR situation.
Banned Footage Vol. 1 comes with two mini game experiences (called tapes) and a new mode to play:
* Bedroom: Figure out how to escape from a locked room — but don’t let Marguerite Baker know you’ve been out of bed.
* Nightmare: Fend off waves of enemies and survive until morning while crafting useful items and traps to stay alive.
* Extra Mode: Ethan Must Die: A tough-as-nails mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PS VR).
Next, on Valentine's Day, Banned Footage Vol. 2 will release. That, too, will come with two new tapes and another new game mode:
* 21: Gamble life and limb in a deadly game run by Lucas Baker.
* Daughters: See what the Baker family was like before the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard.
* Extra Mode: Jack’s 55th Birthday: Race against the clock and feed Jack tons of food in this comical extra game mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PS VR)
DLC already announced and first batch is next week! Hard to believe but with releasing DLC so soon after the game retails, you could imagine it was meant to be included and they cut it to make extra money off it or something.
The DLC does sound good though and even though Im only a few hours into the game, Im looking forward to more content!
I was horrified to discover I was among the minority that suffer from VR gaming but I believe it can be overcome with time. I'm pretty sure the best options are to play standing up and to use the default 30 degree incremental rotation.
I think the key is to try and avoid using R3 to turn unless you absolutely have to and just rely on using your head to look around and steer.
I'm slowly finding my VR legs. When I first got PSVR RIGS and Here They Lie made me feel like I wanted to throw up. The nausea also hit me within 10 minutes after playing the Beginning Hour demo.
Day one I played Resident Evil 7 for 90 minutes with little issues. Admittedly I was using the analog stick lightly to reduce my speed and turning using the 30 degree increments but I feel that I'm slowly acclimatising to VR.
Last night I played for another hour but I've only just left the guest house and running and fast movements are becoming unavoidable now! My stomach takes a hit every now and then especially when ...
Spoiler:
Mia threw me around!
I think if i continue to limit myself to 1-2 hour sessions, it will get easier and less discomforting. The fact that I am able to play the game for longer than 10 minutes of the demo makes me believe I'm building a tolerance to it.
Having the ability to peek around corners using your head and aim using your head is a great feature of playing the game in VR mode!
Also the jump scares are way more effective in VR.
Spoiler:
The head in the water before rescuing Mia almost gave me a fucking heart attack lol
Finished it, great game.. 8.5/10 from me, the enemies needed a bit more variety but I really liked it at the end. They are back on track, can't wait to see what are they gonna do with it. VR was great too, something new and a first proper VR game...
