PS4 Neo just got rekt. http://www.polygon.com/2016/5/25/11774294/xbox-one-slim-one-two-scorpio
PS4 Neo 4.14 teraflops
Xbox Scorpio 6 teraflops
The difference in performance is far bigger than the delta between PS4 and XB1 (1.84 vs 1.32). Makes sense since it has to drive the Oculus Rift.

I think there's still enough time at this point, unless Sony plans to ship neo this year. We'll see, I suppose. It doesn't surprise me that M$ seems determined to take the lead on the performance front, since PS4's power advantage did hurt them substantially - pr-wise, at the very least.

It seems like the initial launch for both consoles was a rushed mess to wipe some of the previous generations' losses. While both PS3 and 360 were huge money wasters, these were so underpowered, it seems they at least didn't have net loss for the respective companies.
And now, two, three years after release, again, underpowered hardware is delivered to the peasants and they are lapping it up.

Sony on the other hand demands that the PS4 Neo games scale back to the original PS4. |
Splintering the market has never proven to be a good idea. I'm sure Kinect-only titles were INCREDIBLY POPULAR on the 360... oh wait, no, the other thing. The opposite. With Sony mandating that Neo titles function on base PS4 as well, they give the absolute best of both worlds to developers *and* gamers; the devs can go hog wild on the "Neo" version of a game whilst paring back details or framerate on PS4 ones, akin to it being a PC version vs XB/PS4 in the first place.
One is a great idea, the other is Microsoft.

It's a pretty simple bussiness decision. Sony has a lot more current gen market share than M$ now, so Spencer and Co. have a lot less to lose. They know One can't compete with the PS4 at this point. If they have to leave it behind, might as well try to - more or less - launch an all new console, instead of a revision/upgrade PS4 Neo is supposed to be.

That's good! Absolutely no need to fracture their, already woefully small, fanbase - keep the Scorpio running like the Neo; games are all cross compatible but massively enhanced when played on Scorpio hardware.

Can't say I like the idea of this, considering lots of games are going to be cross compatible with Windows, I may just ditch the console and go back to pc

Any info about this "custom 8-core CPU", is it based on the old ass shit calculator jaguar, or perhaps it has Ryzen architechture? If its the jaguar one, then its shit, but GPU is pretty good (basically RX580).

So any really great Xbox exclusives coming, which could convince someone who's planning to buy a PS4, to wait for the Scorpio?

I guess it depends if you have a decent PC since most Xbox exclusives are now playable on PC. Take Crackdown 3 for example.. It used to be a Xbox only game but with 3 you can also play on PC. Maybe if you really want to play older Forza, Halo 5 and Sunset Overdrive that doesn't have PC version.
It seems that all new Xbox games also have PC version.

Really disappointed with the line up of games. Waste of hardware judging by what they revealed.
