Seems like bs, SSD not being compatible with a mobo lol

not that uncommon with newer controllers in new ssds when used on ancient boards. but in this case it should work fine

maybe he plugged the ssd into a bad controller. Also many mobo's today have 2 (or more) different sata controllers (usually noticable by different coloured ports). So maybe check that and eventually change the colour of the port used.

should, yes. as every videocard with pci express 3 x16 for example should work even in old 1.(1) slots, but that doesnt work every time either. he should use the port SATA3_0 for the ssd.

It's plugged into the sata0 port, every port he tries it does the same, once unplugged he can get into the bios, seems it's a common problem with the gigabyte x99 board.

I like bum.

Done, done and done, still the same lol the ssd is fine, as it does it to another ssd he tried, he's installed windows etc, boots in 4 seconds, the annoying part is getting into the bios with ssd's plugged in

It can happen on any SSD, not just Samsung, it is some bug in Windows and not the SSD itself.

I have also tested Intel 520 / Samsung 840 Pro, both on the compatibility list , with the same deployed Windows 7 SP1 Pro image and each SSD prior to imagining would enter BIOS fine , but as soon as it is imaged will display the same issue.

Reverting back to a base image and the issue is not present.

In short , an installation or configuration on Windows has somehow tripped this issue

I haven't been able to try it yet but someone told me that a workaround is using F12, like your going to select a boot device and then selecting to enter setup as opposed to hitting the Del key to enter bios.

Another workaround

Well so I pulled all the drives out and set the PCH to RAID and it worked! Although i had to go back to ACHI and into windows to change the registry from ACHI to RAID but it worked. Thanks alot mate that had me stumped for a while!

The thing is on that Intel controller the AHCI & Raid are basically the same. On the other controller you can only run that one IDE or AHCI. Now if it is working that way that is all that matters right.

ffs what did you smoke?

this happens on hardware level even before windows or any data on the ssd is touched!

nothing to do with ahci or raid settings, dont know where you got these "workarounds" but they are not for this problem.

only workaround here is to unplug the ssd and wait for a fixed uefi from gigabyte. but how often do you need to get into the bios? ok now if he wants to oc its kinda odd, but maybe use a normal hard disc to find stable settings? or just put pc naked on the desk, easy to unplug the ssd to change settings
