Indeed, the mini-documentaries are always both informative and engaging, they really know how to craft them. It was easily the best episode so far for me, had quite a few genuine laughs too
"Ah, my Uros is a bit twitchy. Sort of thing you'd say to your doctor" <3
The Mongolia special was genuinely great. Its gags didn't feel forced, it was all about the epic journey throughout a stunning (empty xD) country. And humping John
That was a good episode, John was great, it felt like old Top Gear. Them all in one car worked really well I think, the dynamic between the three is still fun to watch.
They went out with one of the best episodes of this show. A little heart breaking at the end, but glad to see they're going to continue with specials. Hope they can keep some quality.
This last episode was quite surprisingly emotional indeed, dammit. As much as I love specials, I'll definitely miss all the tests and infos about cars (and the banter going along with it), the documentaries and the general laid back atmosphere inside the studio, this third season had nailed the right chemistry in my opinion.
Ultimately though I'm just glad that we'll get to see more of the trio, and that's what matters. Give us more specials like the Mongolia one and we'll all be happy pandas
The Grand Tour season 4 will be dropping on Amazon Prime Video on Friday 13 December 2019.
Amazon Prime have also confirmed that the second episode of the fourth season, again another feature-length special, has just wrapped filming in Madagascar.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I really want to like this show, production value is high and I'm a good target for it and, occasionally, some of their skits do work on me.. But most of the time it feels forced and fake

The Tour as a whole definitely is a giant hodgepodge, you can find great stuff in it and at the same time, awful "ideas" made with the Murikan audience in mind alongside bits that come across as jarringly ungenuine. It's evident that there were some conflicting directions affecting the whole show and its authenticity.
Still, despite some particularly stinking episodes and overall inconsistency, I really enjoyed the ride. There were several specific combinations of locations and cars that managed to achieve the right alchemy for me (and quality banter), some of the specials were quite glorious as well, especially in S03. Speaking of which, Seamen was good!
