I ran into the same issue with a PC i was fixing last week. win7 rtm, would only update to sp1, and then the update would go into an endless, "looking for updates" mode.
I had to manually download the full sp1 patch, and the recent april win 7 update rollup. after that, win update started working again.

Running W7 enterprise, not too worried about that.
They're being more and more pushy with their "upgrade to win10 NAO!" bullshit but it's doubtful that they're dumb enough (or have the balls) to fuck over enterprise clients with some nagware bullshit included among those "new" updates.

INFO:
Quote: | Microsoft resurrects Telemetry updates KB2952664 and KB2976978
The past year has not been easy for system owners or administrators on devices running Windows 7 or Windows 8 who don't want their systems to be upgraded to Windows 10.
The main reason for this was that Microsoft pushed a myriad of patches to devices running previous versions of Windows with the sole aim to get those Windows versions upgraded to Windows 10.
Probably the most notorious of them all was "Get Windows 10", a patch that displays an upgrade prompt to the user in various forms. What made the patch particularly problematic was that Microsoft updated it a lot. This meant that it reappeared on devices running Windows 7 or 8 even if the user or a system administrator hid the page to block it from ever being installed on the device.
Another part of the problem was that Microsoft modified the prompt itself making it less user friendly with every iteration. This was borderline malware-like behavior, something that did not seem to bother Microsoft in the slightest.
But it was not just that patch that infuriated part of the Windows user base. Microsoft introduced telemetry patches as well, most notably KB2952664 for Windows 7 and KB2976978 for Windows 8.
This update performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. These diagnostics help determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating system is installed. This update will help Microsoft and its partners ensure compatibility for customers who want to install the latest Windows operating system.
If you checked for updates on Windows 7 or Windows 8 recently, you may have noticed that these two patches have once again been updated.
This means that they are offered to all users on Windows 7 and Windows 8 again.
What makes this rather worrying from a user point of view is that these updates were prerequisites for the Get Windows 10 update KB3035583.
Some users are already worried that Microsoft might re-introduce the Get windows 10 update again, likely because the operating system's growth fell to a snail-like pace in September 2016.
The update description offers no hint as to what made Microsoft push out an updated version of it to user systems. It could be unrelated to the Get windows 10 campaign, considering that users may still initiate updates to Windows 10 from systems running Windows 7 or 8.
Then again, those who use Microsoft's upgrade assistants will notice that compatibility checks are performed during the upgrade process as well.
While Microsoft is keeping its customers in the dark in regards to what is actually going on, those who don't want their devices to upgrade to Windows 10 better block KB2952664 and KB2976978 once again to make sure nothing of that sort happens.
Those who find one of the patches installed already may find this guide useful that explains how to remove and block already installed Windows updates. |

Probably made an update too many on a "new" W7 machine set up today and now I'm unable to activate it using the usually reliable KMSpico 9.33 portable
Any tips on how to activate it via KMS, cleanly, preferably?
Bit afraid of getting a newer KMSpico/mstoolkit that might be laced with some unwanted shit?
HELP PLZ!
EDIT: Thanks DimasL

Windows Loader should work fine for non-UEFI (non-GPT) installations. Microsoft Toolkit is good, just download it from MDL forum directly.

So one day to another W7 , again, decides that whenever i plug a flash memory or an external HDD , the "Autorun" window doesn't pops up (Ya know, "What ya wanna do?. Explore the contents?, play all the music?..Autorun.exe?)...
I've checked the autorun box from the control panel but nothing.
I've heard that it has something to do with a regedit thing but i don't know what is it and i don't wanna mess things up.
Any help, please?

Make sure the 'Shell Hardware Detection' service is set to 'auto' and is running.

Started and on Automatic/Initiated by default but still nothing
EDIT: SOLVED
REGEDIT to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Delete NoDriveTypeAutoRun from them
Add NoDriveTypeAutoRun as DWORD with Decimal 145 to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
DONE
So many pages saying "Oh, you should delete" or "Oh, but only if you wanna disable it"

World of Warcraft Supports DirectX 12 on Windows 7

Soooo does this means we won't be forced to go to W10 to play certain W10 only games then?... Like "Super Lucky's Tale" etc?

Quote: | We are currently working with a few other game developers to port their D3D12 games to Windows 7. |
From what I've read about this I take it they've ported certain D3D12-parts to Windows 7 but it will not run exactly the same as on Win10 due to differences in OS. Add to that the fact that developers will have to rewrite/port some of their D3D12-code to work on Windows 7.
Then there's the issue of no DX12 runtime released for Win7. It only works with bundling necessary ported D3D12-parts with the game. Existing DX12-games won't suddenly work on Win7.
When it comes to NVIDIA you'll need at least a GTX 9xx-series card (Maxwell) to be able to play any DX12-based game. For AMD you'll need cards from HD 7K and upwards.
@ DV2: Sorry, unless the developers of Super Lucky's Tale work with MS to get the ported D3D12-bits baked into that game you won't be able to play it on Win7.

I've noticed that i've got a pagesys file that's taking 16GB of SSD memory. I've been hearing that it can be lowered to 1-2GB for 16GB RAM users but i'm unsure if i should do that or leave it on auto. Also don't know if leaving it auto or 1-2GB will do anything to speed up the PC /save memory for the SSD.
It might also be that such file could be causing my PC to have some random slowdowns at random moments no matter what i do (Photoshop, Firefox, etc..)

But a way to set it to a correct size for any kind of game, app and situation? (I've read it's used to catch BSODs info etc)

set it dynamic (eg: min 500 and max 2gb) and you are good to go
if it needs more it will increase it's size automatically and you wont have 16gb from your ssd captive.
using a fixed size pagefile is a behavior leftover from the days when fragmentation was an issue

I've had mine set to 1MB for years since I started using at least 16GB ram (just so some older games dont freak there isnt one) and no issues personally so far. But I'm no expert on it so YMMV.

I've set the ini/max to the same one you've said , let's see if the system works better or not
And i have 16GB btw...

should work, what scaramonga posted is the correct way..
i myself do it like this, but i use around 15gb for it, some software i use need it.
For the best performance, you should put the Pagefile on a physical different drive then the Main System Drive. (That is with using HDD´s, not shure about SSD´s), so performance does not degrade when the pagefile gets written to.

I have 2 SSDs and 2 HDDs... 1 500GB SSD (OS, apps,games) and 1 250GB SSD (7min Backups between SSDs)
Moving such file from OS SSD to backup SSD won't cause any interferences or bad pathing etc?..It won't create a 2nd pagesys file later on?

Not at all, but as 3E74 said, have the pagefile on another drive from the actual OS, and your fastest drive if possible, and if your fastest is the OS drive, then keep it on there
You can always manually delete file anyway if you turn off 'hide protected OS files' in folder options.
Here we see mine:
Note the swapfile.sys @ 16mb, which will always remain, regardless if you turn OFF VM in Windows, as this is required under all circumstances, despite what people say otherwise
VM is always present, regardless, (OFF or ON) and the 'minimum' is always 16Mb, which is why it says that on 'minimum allowed'
No benefit to be gained by turning it OFF and just allowing the system to use that pitiful 16Mb when it needs it, regardless of how much RAM you have, as there are some apps/games that will use VM anyway, and if you don't have enough, well, lol, expect the worst
Just as a point of interest (in case anyone is losing sleep over it), lol, the file above that one, hiberfil.sys, is what Windows 10 uses for 'fast startup', and as you can see, it can grow much larger than any pagefile over time. Thankfully, this can be disabled if one wants, but I prefer instant on
