I've been reading all these articles but they assume you've been following the news and there's quite a few gaps there when it comes to explaining things.
I haven't booted my Vita in over a year exactly because I'm waiting for a firmware hack and worry that it will update to an uncrackable one - if my firmware is quite a bit older, do you think these exploits would let me update it to the most recent crackable one?
Ensō is out for 3.65, but you need to install it from 3.60....
Because now 3.61-3.65 games are basically "unlocked" for 3.60(people now probably going to dump them to support 3.6) If I had a Vita I would porbably stay on Henkaku 3.60 for now till The_Flow will release "native" 3.65-67 Kernel by the end of the year/early next year, because if you are on Ensō 3.65 and need to recover your Console it's bye bye to your hack and you will have to wait for "native" exploit later on.

If you are already on 3.61, you can update to 3.65(best option) or 3.67... As been said, there going to be release in less then year for that FWs
There aren't that many games worth playing that require 3.61-3.65 anyway - apart from the usual japcrap, the whole list looks like "stuff you had on steam for years, but now you can finally play it on the shitter too!"

I only kept my vita so I could play my old psp games like tactics ogre, ace combat, parasite eve and metal gears via Adrenaline on that nice OLED vita screen
Well I went ahead and hacked my PS Vita. The tutorials are all over the place since there's no real single tutorial to do it all but basically I had to do the following:
- change DNS allowing me to update from 3.61 to 3.65
- unpack and repack a demo
- install H-Encore using the demo's exploit
- install VitaShell
- enable unsafe mode in menu
- install NoNpDRM using VitaShell & FTP + edit config.txt
- install Enso
Quite a few steps and it took me 2 hours to do, mostly because the info is all over the internet but not in one single place and since this is pretty recent, there's a lot of older stuff that pops up that no longer is up to date or accurate.
Still, it was pretty straight forward. Didn't get a single error. Installed Odin and it worked perfectly. Also ordered an SD2Vita card letting me run games off a SD card because, dear LORD, the Vita is a slow device for tranferring. I wish the idiots at Sony who keep insisting on the WORST wifi adapters the most painful lego-stepping and toe-hitting-on-door pain they can get.
Seriously, 1MB/sec? Really? Combined with tiny memory cards, someone at Sony must be wanking off to torturing all these gamers having to constantly erase and redownload at horrendously slow speeds.
i know the console is dead, still i got one gifted today and i want to do something with it.
so what are the best options to jailbreak it permanently these days? any good guides?
can i play cracked games then? what about emulators?
thanks
/edit
ok that was easier then expected. everything works like it should. still thanks
