i also Bet that when he tested, the FrontPage of Imgur did change.. So its not compareable anyway.. When i startet testing that was the first thing i noticed, since the Usage was all over on different tests..
Imgurs Frontpage gets Updated every Second or so, even Pictures/media get rearanged sometimes.. So Imgur´s Frontpage is one of the WORST examples to test something like this, hahahaha...
could also be an "Addon" that he uses..
Like skx7 sayd, if you wanna test something DO IT THE RIGHT WAY...
Same conditions for both Browsers..
No ADDONS, All Tabs closed besides the one you test. And make shure everything is the same, Zoom levels and so on....
If you do that, you will see, just like i showed in my Post, that FF is NOT more taxing..
Spoiler:
Also, DONT use IMGUR..
Why u might ask?

Want to view a single image on @imgur (literally its only job)? Good luck! You gotta successfully download (354KB) and run (1.21MB) of client-side React in order to get your image requested as resource 110 of 553. What should have been an IMG element became… this.
so if you compare chrome firefox, at least take your website sample out of non-google controlled websites, and fuckin' open same number of sites before comparing apples and oranges to justify your wishful thinking
"google controlled" websites
Chrome is turning the friggin frogs gay much?
Frontpage was showing the same pictures on both given that they were both opened in the same second
I wouldn't have a problem with switching to firefox, again. But I have a hard time finding pages where it uses even the same amount of memory, let alone less.
And why would it encode videos like that? Taxing my GPU like crazy with no real CPU usage benefit.
CStealer Trojan Steals Passwords from Chrome, Sends Them to Remote Database
CStealer is a new Trojan targeting Windows machines that tries to steal passwords stored in Google Chrome.
Of course, this is not the first case of such a Trojan being detected in the wild. However, what is new here is the fact that CStealer utilizes a remote MongoDB database to stash the stolen passwords.
As observed by the researchers, the Trojan presently works as a password stealer. However, it still poses a significant threat to users’ security since it potentially permits other attackers to steal passwords.
According to Lawrence Abrams,
"Anyone analyzing this malware, whether it be law enforcement, researchers, or other threat actors, can retrieve the hard coded credentials and use them to gain access to the stolen credentials."
Therefore, users should avoid saving passwords to their browsers, especially if they use the Chrome browser. Consider using an alternate password manager, such as LastPass, as it seems the Trojan targets Chrome’s Password Manager. In addition, make sure to update your passwords frequently so that, in the event of a breach, no one can misuse your credentials.

how does this trojan enter your pc though ? add popups ? u have to actively click and accept something to get it on ur pc rights? its not a worm so .... low risk
the trojan is called chrome, people install it willingly the whole browsers is developed to push all your data to Google, then people are confused that others are using same features? it is like vendors defending backdoors (intelme), if there is a backdoor, many will try to use it. stop using privacy invading crapware and especially refuse browsers breaking web standards!!!!
Use Firefox! There is really no excuse. There is Firefox for Android which is also superior (for example, you can install a full ad blocker there, such as uBlock). Even Safari on iOS has a proper blocking solution, superior to Chrome on Android. Chrome is that pathetic. Stop using it!
99.95% is done by Gorhill. Only the filters are largely community-based.
uBlock is fantastic Took some years but it's working really well now (been user since the beginning). Sadly gorhill doesn't really like suggestions and improvements but after a long time some of them eventually made it to uBlock.

Why is Firefox Quantum so taxing compared to chrome?
Imgur frontpage, both browsers only using ublock origin
Both without extensions and stuff? Firefox is consistently using less RAM than Chrome here (and is much smoother). I have now 10 random tabs open in Firefox, doesn't go above 120MB. Chrome uses 200MB just to display the startpage
Does anyone know why Chrome started to open in a black screen even it definitely works 'fine'. Disabling the hardware acceleration is temporary fix but I'm still wondering what might be causing this.
I'm using latest 441.44 NVIDIA drivers and other browsers seem to work just fine. Cleaning the drivers, rebooting, resizing Chrome's window etc none seem to make any difference.
Has anyone faced this issue in recent time?
ps. I'm using latest official version of Chrome.

anyone else experience issues in the last few weeks/days?
first problem, which i have since a few weeks and also a friend of mine:
when watching a video, it will suddenly stop, sometimes after a few seconds or after a few minutes, it can happen once or multiple times after another. sometimes it works for days without it happening. it's like i press pause, but i don't, media keys on keyboard are disabled and it's also happening when the video is in another tab in the background. doesn't matter which video, youtube, twitch, instagram stories, facebook, porn (imagine fapping and it pauses all the time!!! )
second problem, which happened since 5-7 days ago:
scrolling seems to be really laggy, like stuttering, you can notice it on the twitch startpage the most i think. also when you click on amazon on the review button and it scrolls down automatically it's a stuttering mess. sometimes you can also notice it on search fields or where you have to enter emails, drop down menus etc.
third problem:
i get a screen flicker 2-3 times each day for a second, only when i got chrome open, i tried it with edge for 2 days and the problem was gone.
i did a clean install of chrome, tried it with and without addons, installed multiple nvidia drivers, even older ones before 3xxx cards were released and changed all cables. two friends of mine experience the same, they also tried to troubleshoot it like i did with no success and if we switch to edge or firefox all problems are gone. like smooth scrolling is back, no screen flicker. we also use different windows 10 versions, one is on normal pro version 2004 (not updated since it got released), another one is on ltsb 1809 (not updates for like 8 months) and im on the latest ltsc 2021 version. (updated)
i even bought a new monitor because i thought it's my fault
did google fuck something up? anyone else noticed something like this in the last few weeks?
/edit
edge just got updated and it's happening there too now, only firefox is still buttery smooth while scrolling. so it's a chromium bug for sure and it's out of my mind how no one is noticing it. it will be weeks or months before it gets fixed
have to cleared your browser cache?
My windows install is like 5-6 years old and only as big as mine has gotten:
Or use google drive app/software? it could be cache/store for data for in locally.
