So,the first episode was... mjeh, nothing really special, but seeing a lot of pilots can be rather lackluster and usually it gets used to let you know the cast somewhat I gave nr2 a chance...
Well shit... that was really better and got me hooked Few more epi's followed while I should have gone to sleep.
the 1080p web-dl of NTB needed other subs tho, the ones that get delivered with it are just badly done spacing and pacing wise. Which makes it worse. But over at OS they had better ones for those releases so: all good!
So: I liked it, quite a bit and I don't really have the stomach for Police shows much. Quality TV, but... Season 2 was slow, Season 4 was meh up untill the last episodes.
I also think I wouldn't have liked it as much if I couldn't watch it back to back.
That being said that first season... very good, except for the first episode.I wouldn't even be mad if it was a mini-series with just that season. Also it's refreshing to see an ending to a show and this had a proper one.
I finally finished my run of the HD version. I put off watching the last few episodes because I know what follows...
I just can't hold the tears. What an immense achievement this entire thing is. So much emotional connection with these characters/people (most stories are real or based on real versions). Even if it does lose a little steam with the Marlo stuff late in the game, the run toward the end is very emotional, and for me becomes more and more so with each watch, hence the last five episodes being harder and harder to watch. I doubt something like this will ever come again.
I feel like I just don't have the adequate vocabulary to properly express my emotions about this thing.
Definitely that was exactly my reaction as well. Stunned and speechless. Saying goodbye to the show was painful, but when you experience something of such caliber, you can only be thankful.
I watched it for the first time only last year, and since then the way I see TV shows has been permanently changed. That's the "price" to pay when you experience perfection, it's hard to go back to reality. The typical "after this, I can die happy now" sensation
Hey, every clip I've seen of The Wire so far has been yo yo culture. I can't help it if that's the impression the show gives, I'm sorry. Maybe people should stop uploading clips that portray the show in a way the is counter to its actual content, perhaps? Yes?
People upload the "cool" vids of Omar. I don't like the trend, but what you gonna do. You can't do justice to a show like that with a few scenes.
It plays everything. I just want the best damn quality to be served to the big BIG screen
I usually download Blu-Ray Remuxes when I have to watch something before the Blu-Ray release (Plex on my Mac Mini connected to the receiver and then to the Projector). But if it's possible i ALWAYS buy the Blu-Ray. Can't have that high end blu-ray playah collecting the dust now can I ?
No binary answer for you, just a suggestion. Download two episodes. If you don't like it after the second, don't buy.
I second teh sexy Duck's advice. You can see it straight away whether it's love at first sight or the beginning of a troubled relationship. Hope it's the former for you OSJ, because not being able to enjoy The Wire is a curse as tedious as being allergic to Nutella xD
