I don't think that would be the case. People that get them for AI are just as hardware nerdy as people that get the high end for gaming.
most people that get it for AI, also game..so they are both (everyone I know that does AI also games on it)
The first thing people who get them for AI do, is compare it/s to before and compare to other cards of similar spec. Only difference is some people check FPS and GPUZ, others check it/s and GPUZ.
Just far fewer people getting them for that, so there are fewer chances of equal volume of reports if it did.

Maybe so, but when you work at data center and get a shipment of 1000's of these cards, you'll be spending days just plugging them in and configuring whatever needs to be configured so they all talk.
@dethy
OH, those. Yea they might not notice. But plenty of home people that are into AI are getting them for that too. Someone would have noticed.
Usually, data centers use enterprise cards. A100, A6000, V100 etc. Not many large-scale AI GPU datacenter projects are using cards that have a lot of extra parts for gaming they will never use, that are slower at AI than the pure enterprise ones.
I myself think this consumer card ROP issue slipped QA, because they are so heavily focused on making the enterprise cards.
I notice they've started to come in stock here this week, but I still can't make myself bite the bullet
Little reason to get it for those wtih 4090. I wanted to keep trading to go the cheap route, but this is just too costly. Expensive in general, requires a nuclear reactor to power it and its chock full of bugs and even got missing features. Now fuck that.
5xxx series is just 4xxx series with multi frame gen + higher price, all extra performance comes from increased power consumption on the high end cards, what an load of bullshit.

Very true. I have a 4090 and absolutely no intention of buying the 4090 Ti (5090).
Not only is it not really an upgrade, but build quality is trash as well.
I dont see any reason to get it either.
5080/5090 isn't enough of an upgrade for my narrow-scope use of it to justify it. local AI isn't MUCH better for the price, and I don't play most games that use framegen, and the few I do run fine without it already.

The 5080 is as much as a 3090/4090 used to cost here
I saw a MSI $11,799 5090 equipped laptop yesterday
When the time comes - getting a 6080, which will likely have real gains, should be fun
Looks to be on pair with 5070 Ti. Fingers crossed that AMD gets a bigger market share and we can have some competition. And that is IF Nvidia will give a fuck about gaming.
9070 XT is ~6% slower but costs 200€ less (if you can get it) than the RTX 5070 Ti. How's that 1 generation behind? The normal 9070 is faster than 5070 and costs a bit less.
It's on par with how it's been. A matter of semantics maybe.
But last few gens AMD's flagship fights with Nvidias last-gen flagship (9070xt trading blows with 4080). Don't forget the 9070xt (top tier) is fighting the 5070 (3rd tier) in the results, not the 5080/5090.
Why I think they picked the 90*0 naming out of no where. To muddle that it's on par with the Nvidia of the same numbering. So people subconsciously equate it's not gen flagship vs flagship, but instead, link it as midtier vs midtier. 70 vs 70. Instead of "top SKU vs top SKU"

Not really, it gets bodied on RT performance apparently. Which, I dunno, isn't really that important since most modern games are utter shite. Was expecting them to close the gap more, though

One generation behind because it still loses in RT (performance and quality), FSR 4 is worse than the new DLSS with Transformer model (better than old cnn), and it's still lacks quality in encoding.
AMD's RX 9070 XT MSRP is $600, with the 9070 at $550
In Sweden:
ASUS Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB TUF Gaming OC - 1029 US Dollars
In the US (Newegg):
Same card - 709 US Dollars.
That's a 58% increase from MSRP.
The vendors don't give a shit about MSRP (obviously) but they've slapped on a fat price tag that is WAY too high. The ridiculous prices of NV-cards makes it easier for them to overprice their stuff.
