N5 is a good device. Very fast but camera is rather poor so keep that in mind I think... and battery is so so

The battery should be enough for me with my usage patterns, and I'll probably tinker with custom ROMs/kernels to get even more out of it. Also I think Android L is supposed to improve battery life significantly? I agree the camera is not great but I'm not very picky in that regard.

Still using first Xperia Z, without any intentions to buy new phone, these damn new models come out like mushrooms at rain, while ago i was reading about Z2 and now damn Z3 is nearly out... Also without any major "upgrades" to previous models tbh.

Yea, I will be getting Z3 but the international version. Not the Tmobile US.

I can't be believe my Z is still on 4.2 while everyone else is rocking 4.4

Quote:
Based on our extensive Lab tests and measurements, the Galaxy Note 4 is the Best performing Smartphone display that we have ever tested. It matches or breaks new records in Smartphone display performance for: Highest Absolute Color Accuracy, Highest Screen Resolution, Infinite Contrast Ratio, Highest Peak Brightness, Highest Contrast Rating in Ambient Light, and the smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle. Its Color Management capability provides multiple Color Gamuts – a major advantage that is not currently provided by any of the other leading Smartphones. The Galaxy Note 4 delivers uniformly consistent all around Top Tier display performance: it is the first Smartphone display to ever get all Green (Very Good to Excellent) Ratings in all test and measurement categories (except one Yellow for a Brightness Variation with Average Picture Level) since we started the Display Technology Shoot-Out article Series in 2006, an impressive achievement for a display. The Galaxy Note 4 has again raised the bar for top display performance up by another notch.

Yea. Planned on changing my N5 for the LG G3, but sadly the price is going down too slowly. Maybe it is better though, because there seem to be some major problems with it Sad

My last phones i always sold before the warranty was over, so i would get some more money i guess.
Too bad the Nexus only has 1 year, which is over soon for me, and the new Nexus 6 probably still is some months away Crying or Very sad

You may get G2 too. I bought it a few days ago and its awesome. The difference between G2 and G3 is not that big. I mean the higher res and the memory slot are not big deal, imo. You can always get meenova for the G2. The performance is really superb so far. I flashed only the kernel though. I have no plans in changing the ROM. I was kinda amazed how easy the rooting is actually. It took like 1 milisec. Back then in the glorious Sony Ericsson days, the process was pain in the ass, you needed special cable, a few programs with dos interface and the process was taking like 5-7 min Laughing I am really starting to dig this Android shit. But yeah anyway, the G2 is not a bad phone in any case, you should consider it mate. Its better than the Nexus 5. Just slightly though, but still Rolling Eyes

Well, the new Nexus 5 should hopefully get any news soon. Seeing how the Nexus 9 should come out soon too.

But maybe i also buy a Note 3 or 4. I can't stand Samsung anymore, but sadly there is no other company that wants to bring out a device with a good working digitizer. And for me that feature would be good at work.
There is that new "LG G3 Stylus". But it has not a digitizer, but a standard capacitive pen

Even though I am an iphone fanboy, the lg g3 looks fucking sexy as hell.

Heard there are some issues with the phone "overheating", not sure how true that is.

My sis in law has the g3 now for little more than 2-3 months and it shuts down when it overheats. f.e. she had her screen on full bright on a sunny day and we took some pictures. bam shutdown shutdown shutdown..

She is now using the phone on a darker setting and only occasionally faces shutdowns... still pretty shitty for a brand new flagship phone I'd say!

Well, they are still shitty. Other phones being shitty as well, doesn't make them any better.

The G2 f.e. doesn't have such problems and is fucking great. It's the best phone I have used up until now. My cousin got himself the oneplus one. I'll invite him over for a lan party and will give it a test to see if I like it Smile

Root the phone and replace the kernel. Almost (if not) all kernels have CPU tweaks fully enabled and you can enable intelligent or dual intelligent overheat protection that watches the temp and underclocks the CPU when it reaches certain degrees. As far as I know there's no such protection on the stock kernel and rom. The difference between intelligent and dual int protection is that with single the kernel is keeping eye on the temps while with dual both the kernel and the rom are monitoring the temps and even if the rom fails the kernel still does the job. Personally I left my phone just with the kernel protection and its perfectly fine. My temps are 75 degree to downclock and 76 to turn off the phone but I don't think I ever experienced both since I am monitoring the CPU clocks with one sweet app called CPU Spy Plus. I don't think I ever saw the CPU clocked up to 2GHZ+ for more than 5-6 seconds and I am playing lots of 3D games. I think there's something wrong with your sis' phone. Something's messed with the dynamic voltage I guess. But stuff happens, it doesn't matter if its stock kernel/rom, everything can happen. So I suggest you to configure this stuff on your own.

EDIT: Seeing you have G2, I assume you already know about this shit lol

Sheesh.... and it just came out a few months ago anyway right? Better wait for the G4, fixes overheating but now causes other issues Cool Face

The only android phones I would ever consider would be the g3 or the galaxy s5, one of my coworkers showed his new s5 the other day and I really liked it. Maybe.... MAYBE the HTC one... but that's windows isn't it?

My HTC One has started crackling/distorting in the top speaker. It's becoming difficult to hear conversations now. So i'm thinking of a replacement.

I like the 4.7" screen size and i don't want to go any bigger, what would be a good replacement for the HTC?

Im not sure if anyone posted this or not yet but this site allows you to pick different phone models and then calibrate your screen using either your own phone or credit card to produce actual size images to compare Very Happy

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size

I used it to compare my current iPhone 5 with the iPhone 6 Plus and Sony Xperia Z3, resizing the image of the iPhone 5 on screen to match the size of my own. Here is the results.

My little nephew played games for quite some time on my G3 when I was on vacation, no shutdowns. I don't know what games he played though, so no idea how demanding the games were.
The phone also has a superb standby time. No mobile data connection, limited wifi and screentime (~ 3-4 hours), the phone held out for 126 hours (4% left). I assume the competition gets the same numbers. I wish I had taken time to look at battery stats while games were being played, but I didn't want to bother with that shit on vacation.

Good phone.

Tried out Galaxy alpha and k zoom today.
Both left me with great impression. K zoom is not as thick as s4 zoom and is generally a snappy and fast device. Not sure if its a point in getting it now since I have a dslr now.

And Alpha is just soooo light and feels really nice with aluminium borders... but the price is a damn shame. The device dont feel like top tier as it's price would suggest. it should be 300$ less just as k zoom is.

Still... I am not sure what would i want now. Prolly nexus5. I want something smaller, lighter and more durable than my note2.

Yeah some are selling invites here too.
Are there any alternatives to oneplus one ? N5 is discontinued as far as I know. I WANT SOMETHING Which Is Faster, cheaper, less cluttered and have better battery life than note2. I would love something the same size or smaller. Possibly durable enough so I could use it without pouch or cover
