Sony already said that all games will be released for both PS4 and PS4 Pro, that is valid for PSVR games too. |
Yea but in a year or more you can expect the new games to run at unplayable 20-22 fps on PS4 Poor while only the Pro can keep steady 30 fps.
I don't even want to imagine what RDR2 will look and run like on PS Poor.

Not saying its a powerhouse, it's still shittier than my fucking ancient pc, but it can deliver a few fps more than the poor edition to make a big difference when it comes to running at consistent 30 fps or completely unplayable 25. I guess we should stop JackQ-ing as cyclone said and just wait and see.

Sony can force rules, for example they only allow constant 60 FPS games on PSVR.
Surely they can do the same for 30 FPS non VR games ?!?
I was sad to see Gravity Rush 2 runs at 30 fps on PS4 Poor (although it seems constant 30fps, not like TLG)... I wonder if it runs at 60fps on PS4 Pro ? Such game needs 60 fps.

The difference isn't dramatic at all... Sure you can see it if you compare both consoles but changing the whole game experience ? nope.
Remembers me the PC section when comparing PS4 version of a game vs ultra settings PC version... where there is barely any difference

Traded in and got a Pro today, not an exciting upgrade by any means but For Hodor looks great in "4k" and it's quicker for sure. New gamepad is nice too, sweet little lightbar that actually does not distract like the horrible xbox one light.
All in all a nice upgrade but i only bought it because i got tired of seeing so much difference in resolution when switching between my PC (1440p gaming/4k desktop) and PS4.

You never know in this day and age, when publishers hate used sales, what does and does not work. Are there any restrictions on used games? I'm going to buy a console, since the Nintendo one turned out to be crap, it'll be a PS4 Pro. I don't plan on buying new games though, prices are crazy. Can I just buy used games and play? Will I miss anything with an old game/code?

Not really. U sometimes lose access to some launch DLC, but 9 times out of 10 it's just a shitty item or something like that. Also, some collection games, for example Destiny editions that include DLCs, can't be traded, because DLC's are actually codes redeemed through PSN. But other than that, you can sell/exchange/buy any used title, even a multiplayer one, and play it completely normally.
If you're not very set on steadily bulding your game collection, this can actually make gaming on a console dirt cheap nowadays. I usually just buy/exchange games I know I'll only play once and keep stuff I'll play for a long time, or just really want in my collection. It's pretty much like on PC (well, how it used to be - pre-Denuovo), only instead of isodemoning you have used games exchanged for fraction of the price. And with full functionality, including MP and so on.

I bought Guitar Hero Live Party Edition (two guitars) on a whim (it was €20) for PS4 and also bought a 4K HDR TV so I think it's time to get myself a PS4.
But, the Pro pisses me off because it makes the decision a lot tougher. I know all PS4's have HDR support, I know the resolution really doesn't mean squat since it upscales most stuff, I also know PS4 Pro is only a minor update AND there's no bundles for it yet. + it's a lot bigger and bulkier.
So it makes the decision hard - go for the PS4 Slim (with HDR suport) and a 3 games bundle for €350, or a barebones PS4 Pro for €400 ...
What would you guys do?

Ps4 pro because some games run better.
I agree with you the graphics boost aren't that great but some games like rise of the tomb raider run at 60 fps... that only would be enough to justify the extra cash.

I should have mentioned: I got a very powerful PC gaming rig and the main reason I want the PS4, is to play its exclusives + because I already have Playstation Plus for the PS3 and Vita and have a lot of PS4 games piled up in my account.
But, you're probably right that the PS4 Pro would be the better choice - bit it's €150 more expensive too since you don't get any extras.

I'd wait a couple of months for a price drop or a good bundle for the Pro. Especially when exclusives are concerned, I think over the coming months/years the difference will be more pronounced. Look at Zero Dawn for example.

I was hoping for a Zero Dawn bundle since I like the sound of that game but nope, squat. It's disgusting to see Sony pushing the 500GB model so much with bundles as well - the price difference in those sizes of hard drives is next to zero anyway.

Horizon on PS4 pro has barely any difference.
Unless you go 4K I actually think it's not worth the Pro.

Even on a 1080p TV you have supersampling, better shadows, better AF, better framerate. How is that barely any difference? I assume people buy a console for long years. If the first game to somewhat use the Pro's extra power already shows a clear difference, the coming exclusives will widen the gap between PS4 and Pro.

The price difference is still making me hesitate. I mean, sure some games run better but devs can't afford not properly supporting the original because that's where the masses are. What's the market share of the pro? 10% if even that?
In the end the choice is between the slim 1tb with games bundle for 300 or the bigger and slightly faster Pro for 100 euros extra without any games. It's a tough one. Slims support HDR as well which was the main benefit the pro had I'd you ask me since its 4k mode barely gets used by games. I'm thinking it's better to get the slim and in a few years pick up a cheap Pro.
