Easy 9/10 in my opinion. I thought the game was awesome and well worth the wait. It was great how they mixed up the gameplay and scenes with different party members.
Took my time with one, did all side quests, found all music discs and most optional activities but there’s some stuff I missed and some stuff that can only be obtained on hard difficulty which I’ve now unlocked.
As much as I’m tempted to start a hard playthrough, I don’t think I will. Total time I spent on normal difficulty was just over 48 hours.
Would have been really cool to manage all characters in battle rather than limited to 3. At least just one fight controlling Cloud, Tifa, Barret and Aerith simultaneously. Multiple summons would have been cool. And I also didn’t get to use summons that often.
Hard to believe this game only equates to a 5th of the original.
Now a long wait to continue the story begins :/
Spoiler:
Really surprised that Aerith wasn’t killed off! But I do recall a brief cutscene showing a glimpse of it.
Loved the dialogue following the decision to walk up to floor 59 of the Shinra building rather than taking the elevator. I actually tried both lol. The dialogue and writing is hilarious at times throughout this game.
Wow they did it, they made this a great game. I didn't even want to play this since I worried it might ruin my beautiful memories, but after the great reviews I couldn't resist. So many memories and it's awesome to see it like this. Even for people who have never played FF7 this will be a great game. I thought this would be a shitty cash grab effort, but I am impressed. Good job

Ugh... Must resist temptation to upgrade the firmware on my PS4 for this game. I haven't felt this way since Spider Man dropped. Outside of losing the ability to play backups, I really want to wait for the PC release.. Ughhhhh TOUGH!!!
Really glad to hear it turned out well!

Fuck that lying piece of shit. He's totally trying to sell it as a faithfull remake. And much if it is, but a new plot they've added is all sbout breaking free from actually remaking. He should just call it a reimagining, which is what it is.
I am about a third through currently. It is really a great game and I enjoy it, but somehow it doesn't really feel like FF7 to me. It's all there, especially the music, but somehow this could also be a fan-remake in Unreal4 (given the required ressources to craft everything).
I do realize that this could be said about pretty much every game, but it's just something I noticed here. Probably has something to do with the original being pretty tightely paced (especially in the Midgar-section and first half of the game) and this one being relatively slow.

I've played four hours only, so not much, I don't understand what you mean. It's just a remake of the game with different combat, to put it simply. What doesn't feel FF7 about it?

Ohh most of it is a remake. You're just not there yet. Like the changes or not, a faithful remake it is not.
I'm actually glad they're not simply re-telling the story tbh, but I understand it's a divisive point.
I doubt too many would be angry about aome creative changes here and there. The magnitude of the big twist is very big.
Which isn't automatically a bad thing, as someone who finished the original many times since I got it on its release in 1997, I welcome the "twist" and don't see a problem with it. Why don't you just let the people experience it for themselves instead of trying to force your opinion on them before they have the chance to make up their own mind?
Whenever someone states they are playing the game and enjoying it so far, you come with your usual "oh ho ho you dont know the shit thats coming up" spiel.

Sigh
Hmm, cant seem to recall forcing my opinion on anyone. Have just stated my opinion on a discussion board an am free to do so. By your own logic, how about you stop forcing yours?
I am just saying, everyone should just decide for themselves, how is that forcing an opinion?
You on the other hand seem hell-bent on making sure people are up in arms about the direction the game takes like yourself.
Talking about a re-imagining, it's the same. The definition of a remake doesn't mean taking the source material 1:1 and slapping new gfx on it, it can offer as much deviation as it wants, as long as it's still somewhat based on the source. Now Kitase is a lying piece of shit only because the game isn't exactly what you expected, but that's on you and your own deliberate interpretation of what the game should be.
To be honest Stormwolf, it does seem you are forcing your opinion, you have been posting on both sections and multiple times your hate for the game story.
We get it, move on. Let people also experience the game rather than answering every time you hated the story and it's not a faithful remake. Don't worry, I did get it, you didn't like the ending. Please let me experience it, I'll let you know when I'm there, don't disgust me of the game I'm enjoying so far.
Also, don't ever play Tomb Raider Anniversary I guess, they rearranged the story (and made it an awesome remake - to tie it with Tomb Raider Legend and Underworld). Love it or hate it, I'm glad they didn't do a copy paste of some old 1996 game and tried to tie things up better. Maybe whatever shocking ending you experienced might be explained and more in line with FF7-2..? Anyway don't spoil me thanks.
I also never played FF7 PSX and got spoiled of many things already...
Great game, I'm on chapter 4. It's slow, but I really like the pace. It takes its time setting up characters and building the story. I've read this chapter/episode (or whatever it's called) equates to about 15% of the original game, I can understand why that is. I also like the combat. It's hectic, but once you now what you're doing it actually requires tactics and thinking.
It also has the usual Jap weirdness, that's what I like about these games. There are some WTF moments in Jap games you'll never see in Western titles
Biggest thing I really do dislike is the diversity in graphical quality. One moment you're looking at something beautiful, the next you see some ancient era texture It's like they forgot to replace the placeholders at times.
Spoiler alert but seems choices in the game do trigger different cutscenes. Seems this part is the major one, the other parts are more about unlocking dresses and little variations to the according cutscenes...
Yea but it's fine since you can replay separate chapters after finishing the game and re-do all of those scenes, I just did that before getting Platinum today.
While a PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake isn’t scheduled to release until next year, that hasn’t stopped ambitious modders from cracking the current PlayStation 4 version. So much so, that an editor has now been released, giving players a wide variety of moddable options, including the ability to play as Red XIII.
He doesn't have any special spell or any spell at all, useless
Also I just finished the game, I think I understand what Stormwolf hates (which i didn't at first since i didn't play Crisis Core nor the original) but really who cares if they changed the story (and IF they changed it, they could pull a Trolljima and change things back in part 2, who knows).
Anyway, if I were you I'd be glad they are trying to surprise us with an original story, rather than a story you already know, at least you have something to look forward in FF7-2 and you can hope to be surprised...
But feel free to skip it I guess (you won't )
For me this game is 9/10 (-1 for some stupid gameplay things like need to be in front of safe, and some cutscenes could have been QTEs imo rather than playing by themselves. Also some repetitive areas that were copy pasted / lazily textured/done).
Can't wait for part 2, this interested me in the FF7 lore and want me to know more.

Even if it is something new for this game, that dumbass metaphysical bullshit is not in any shape or form original in japanese games. Like at all. He could have changed it in a more down to earth way and it would have been be 10 times better.
