Have you ever considered homeplugs?
The wireless in the PS3 is shoddy at the best of times. You can pickup a pair of 200Mbps plugs for about £50. They're quicker and have higher success rates than wireless (oh, and secure)

hmmm there is no still no hack. there is an exploit which to date does not allow to run unsigned code. based on his latest message, i also understand that we do not have to expect if from him if a hack would possible

Custom smiley fail : You're doing it wrong Very Happy

Anyway, he passed the first layer of protection and gained read/write mem access (from what they say) But he can't natively run unsigned code.

It's like being in prison and breaking out of your cell at night, then wander the corridors saying "I've defeated the protection"

YOU'RE STILL IN THE FUCKING PRISON, DUDE

P.S.: I'm hoping for a full exploitation, this was a big first step !

All that technical gibberish can be substituted by a simple Q&A - can I play downloaded Uncharted 2 on a PS3? If "yes" -> craked/hacked if "no" -> not hacked/cracked

As for playing burned games, you don't need to fully hack the console. Look at the x360, until recently it wasn't hacked, they only flash the drive to get past the lame "recordable media" checks, right ?

Where/What is the check which prevents cloned bluray disks from working ?

I am not sure what to think he says he can not access the isolated SPE (SPE core does the decryption etc.) however he does say he can control it so whatever data he sends to that SPE the SPE will do its part and then he can still control the system.. so its hacked however its a very complicated hack but we will have to wait and see if hackers will be able to get anywhere with this.

Maybe the hypervisor checks to see if the drives firmware signature is intact before it allows anything to boot. Maybe MS should have thought of that

If you can read / write to main system memory you can control system calls.. If the hypervisor can be shut down......

I think so to it must be a signature check... cause I did read somwhere that hackers succeeded in decrypting and encrypting the blu ray drive firmware..

mmm... hermaphrodite programmers......

@grimmy - that's a wonderful idea but i rent Sad

now that i think about it though there is 1 phone jack in each room. maybe i could make that work somehow. or rip out that plug and install the other and follow that wiring to find it under the house. considering i was just under there stealing my neighbor's cable last month it seems like i would've already thought of that

Home plugs work on power sockets not phone ones. You can unplug them and move them whenever you like. To me, they work by magic, something to do with modulation apparently.

I'm hoping where you rent has power else I think they call that squatting Smile

Come on now. You can't come in and say that you have credible sources and then not expect to be asked what they are.

Horrodee, you're a fantastic moderator.
