Federer match and the comeback was fantastic. Very Happy

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Yeah, Nole is an absolute monster. Not as elegant as Roger and not as bold as Rafa, but he is the most complete player of the three - with a massive mental strength to top it all off.

Poor Berrettini tried his best, but his main assets (serve + forehand) weren't infallible today and Djokovic's ability to return them along with his superior quality neutralized most of the attacks. It was inevitable really. Still, it was a remarkable run and I hope it can be replicated in the future.

What an amazing men's singles finals this was. I have a soft spot for Medvedev so I was quite bummed for him but Nadal is so deserving, I didn't want either to win/lose Very Happy

Indeed, what Nadal did the other day was honestly astonishing even by his standards. Coming back at the age of 35+ from a surgery and after just six months being able to overturn such a long final against a top opponent 10 years younger than him, hats off really. Razz

It's how he did it that actually impressed me the most - since his first serve was quite poor, he had to constantly vary his playing style and resort to improvization by pulling off so many different (insane) tecnical shots, it really was his best showcase since the late 2000s.

Yup unfortunately it was physically impossible to come back at the age of 41 after three major knee surgeries. End of an era...King Roger's sublime technique will be sorely missed <3

Huge match starting in less than an hour between the best player in the world and his very likely successor in a few years (or maybe sooner).

After an entire generation of "nextgen" players who had to repeatedly eat the dust for years, the time has finally arrived. He definitely is the chosen one Very Happy

Djokovic looked genuinely tired (mentally also) whereas Alcaraz was relentless, and that shifted the balance. The match still had several momentum changes, a ridiculously long game and some top-notch recoveries, pretty great.

Yeah, fantastic match Very Happy And even though he lost I think Djokovic proved today he still has some gas in the tank to keep winning.

Djokovic won 3 out of 4 GS, lost one in the final, finished a year as #1 for 8th time, will be over 400 weeks #1. He is still player to beat.

A wild Sinner appears \o/

Impressive how our carrot man went from promising-yet-underperforming to world class in just a few months, if he doesn't have any injuries in his career he can stay on top for a while since he's got the maturity and mental strength of a veteran as well.

Absolutely legendary match by Djokovic at the age of 37, with a bad knee against the Wonder Chico from 2003. The old lion truly wanted to show everyone who's still king Very Happy

He's practically completed tennis now, winning every single available trophy.

Another retirement:
Quote:
Rafael Nadal's legendary tennis career comes to an end in loss at Davis Cup

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal played the final match of his professional career Tuesday, losing 6-4, 6-4 to Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup.

Nadal, 38, announced last month that he would retire after the tournament.

His career ends as one of the most decorated in tennis. Competing professionally since his late teens, Nadal won 92 singles titles (fifth-most all time), 22 majors (second-most all time) and two Olympic gold medals.
