Whole season 2 has felt pretty nonsense Sad
Season 1 was epic.

Yeah i can't rightly disagree. The production value is through the roof but season 2 is very, very confused. The gist of it is completely fine, but get the fuck on with it xD

Gonna wait a while though so there are some episodes stacked up. Usually wait until about 8 or so

Aye season 2 so far has probably been the slowest and worst paced season of an anime show I have ever seen.
It's not bad but its so mind numbingly slow and I just can't understand how the hell they thought this was a good idea.
Fucking Dressrosa arc in One Piece was faster and that shit had 5 minutes of a battle stretched over 20 eps Laughing

Dressrosa will be the worst no matter how you cut and slice it. In this case though i think he wrote a badass prequel arc and then continued making his "main" story and went through a bunch of pitfalls by trying to make it a giant epic where things take time, but there is such a thing as taking too much time.

Isn't this the same with every single One Piece fight? I don't get it how people can enjoy the show at all, 100 eps to cover a single fight and shit.
Or 50 fights happening at once each get a 30 second segment in every episode + random nonsense on top.

Anyone watching Trigun Stampede? I enjoyed the original series even if quirky. Sure, it drug out some scenes (as a lot of anime tend to) but overall, a fun adventure at the time.

This new one seems to be much darker in tone overall. Only the first episode or so had any of Vash's upbeat vibes. This one he seems to have the same principle behind him, but is also overwhelmed with "bad" stuff happening.

I'm not certain as I didn't check, but it might be due to the expected length of the season why it is being rushed through like this. I kind of miss more of Vash's upbeat nature from the OG.

That said, I am still enjoying the series and it's different approach and some of the art and CGI is actually not too bad. Not the best by any means, but serviceable.

Tried watching it now but it's not clicking. It's having some of the worst traits of anime that i know of. Pacifist protagonist who wants to even "save" his enemies (whatever the fuck that means) and clowning around all the time in a cutthroat world. To me it's not interesting, rather silly if i'm being honest.

I see your point. This one being less in episodic count they get more serious in less time. If you can last until about episode 4 or so, it seems to stop being so quirky. They actually dive into the twins’ past a lot along with the current I ha intents of the planet (non-humans).

It’s been a while since I last saw the original series, but I don’t recall as much background story to the twins’ as this one. Not a ton more necessarily, but they seem to have added to it and changed a few things here and there.

Just finished Trigun Stampede. It was alright. Vash was of course the weak point. He's the damning idealistic hero who defends humanity, even if in this case he should join his brother, so that was disappointing.

The world felt inorganic and disjointed. All we saw was wasteland, but apparently it was a big world with governments etc, but it felt like that wasn't the case. It also failed explaining the origin and point of the plants as they didn't even originate from this dimension. It was a bit weird, but it felt like they just made whatever they wanted and rolled with it. I miss that from old anime in general, but of course with proper explanations around it to root it in the story and world.

Otherwise the characters were so-so. Kinda underdeveloped, but the story isn't over yet.

Might seem negative, but other than Vash being an idiot it is a very enjoyable experience.

I think they do previews and then reviews after each season - at least they used to when I actually watched alot of anime.

The only two I know are:
AniList - https://anilist.co/search/anime?year=2023&format=TV&sort=SCORE_DESC:
→ Change the Year filter to which year you want to look in → Change format from TV Show to other stuff if want to see more than tv anime

and

MyAnimeList - https://myanimelist.net/anime/season
→ Choose the season you want to look in → Click Sort → Choose Score → Choose TV as a category to only see TV anime

MyAnimeList has more users and as such probably has a better "average" score to base your opinion on.

Been a while since I used MAL but I checked it out and it has become even worse. It's now full of rubbish reviews from edgelord girls and boys Laughing . I'd say go with AniList instead.

On that note, I barely recognise these new shows and characters. Laughing Only one I'm still following is Psycho Pass.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Can anyone recommend a good and recent (2015+ or so) mecha style show or movie? Power armor or larger style mechs works.

In my search, I did come across a show called 86 but haven’t dove into it just yet. Any others worth a watch?

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho (A Place Further than the Universe)

Follows 4 teen girls on "A story that leads do Antarctica". I was putting it of based on the premise but its a very nice surprise.
No fan service, teenage drama, and a heartwarming vibe to it.--> Everything to go wrong. But somehow it captures the joy of just running aimlessly I've rarely seen outside Studio Ghibli.

I started watching Darker than Black which is pretty decent and mature show so far (8 episodes in). No chibi, pedo shit, teenage, school drama.

Unfortunately it's really hard to find such shows nowadays. It's just diving into dumbster full of immature shit that somehow is recommended as good show. So many shows that have high scores or are recommended by youtubers are just unwatchable for me. Sorry for the rant but "check myanimelist by scores" is not really substantive.

That's it for my annual rant that anime is shit Laughing
