Yeah been running it now since I posted, no problems here on the 4 x Pi 4's I have, only 3 of them are using SSD drives (no point on the pi-hole system, so SD does for that), but really great stuff Smile

We waited a year, and it was worth it Wink

x86 would certainly be nice but the power consumption would most likely be a magnitude of what it's currently, and most things that the RPis are used for are totally fine on ARM.

I'm now using two RPis, one 3B+ for Kodi and one normal 3B for Pi-hole, monitoring smart meter + solar panels, and a Wireguard server. I previously used a Zero for monitoring the solar panels but have moved it the 3B as it still had enough power remaining to take care of it (typical load: 0.25 0.15 0.1). One less system to worry about Razz

Yeah, certainly. They're not super fast, but fast enough do some (simple) tasks without being too limited by the speed. Especially for the power they use they're great devices Very Happy

Meet Mr 6.

He will be the sole responsibility of collecting air traffic from my 1090 mast on roof, via Piaware. First 8Gb model, the other 5 are 4Gb, with a cheap SSD strapped on.

They are nice little nuggets although there are many existing uC boards. The PicoPi is pretty low in specs, on-par with a 8-bit micro. Boards based on STM32, LPC, ATSAM offer much more peripherals and CPU power from USB2.0, ethernet, LCD drivers, external memory busses, SDC controllers, ... and you can get those cheap, chinese clones are even cheaper. Check those out if you are interested.

The Pico uses much less power, which is its targeted audience feature. It's not meant for running large projects and such.

It's really meant as a competitor for the ESP8266/ESP32. I'm using a ESP8266 (on a pre-assemblied board since my precision soldering iron died Mad) to monitor my "smart" (dumb thing but it can be read out) electricity meter. It's working fine so I won't change that but I might've bought the Pico if it was available then. The smaller/cheaper the more limited the things are you can do, obviously, but you can combine these really well with a normal Pi. Just to read sensors for example or flip a switch, but have a normal Pi do all the main work.

Liquid Tar. Laughing

Seriously. Do not be running Ubuntu on Pi yet, although it has come a long way, it's just not stable enough, yes it looks better, but just my 2c Smile

Raspbian OS, and keep the kernel/system up to date, always Wink Although these fantastic devices can run OS beyond what they are designed for, honestly, it's not worth the trouble, more so if you rely on each to do something for you, which is really what they are intended to do Smile

Love em! Very Happy

1 Pi Hole, 1 Server supplying whole house with media/files, 1 monitoring Air Traffic via rooftop antenna, 1 running my wife's vibrator, even when I'm asleep, and the other 3 running various tasks, all at the same time Wink So cool.

Listen, even Raspbian 64 bit is not ready for deployment, and is still some time off, so a waste of time is the 8Gb version of the device ATM Wink Yes, it's available, but you will be restricted heavily because most apps are 32 bit, on the Pi anyway.

I also didn't say that 'Ubuntu' was just 'another' OS, in fact, I love it on anything else, just not the Pi. So get off that 'high horse' Paxxy boy Smile

Besides, out of all my Pi's, all of them, bar one, I run the 'lite' version, aka, no desktop, so I go with what runs best.
