Thanks cyclone! Was reading most of that info as well, appreciate the confirmation.
Found a 4GB SD card laying around, going to try this out while I wait for my bigger card, seems I can fit Captain Toad on here!
I have a spare wireless router layin' around, going to fire up a non-internet connected network from it, host my own exploit, and keep the WiiU on there, so no auto update nonsense!
Just set up my sd card with homebrew launcher and latest loadiine_gx2 nightly (will revert to 0.2 if problems).
Also tossed Treasure Tracker on there and made sure to give it [AKBE01] on the folder.
Setting up WAMP and Java8 to host the exploit on a simple Win7 machine.
Will return with progress!
EDIT:
Well, HOT DAMN. I was initially confused about whether I needed Apache or not to do something, so I was getting a port 80 conflict when using the HaxServer.jar. Figured it out pretty quick though, don't need anything other than HaxServer.
Hit the local URL for Kexploit10 first, loaded fine sent me back.
Went back and hit the local URL for Loadiine and Loadiine GX2 loaded up fine, selected the game and it booted perfect.
AWESOME.

There is no risk for it to auto update even with all the stand by features on as long as you are using TubeHax DNS, it blocks the update server and still allows your Wii U to stay online and access eShop, download updates / play online (for legit games) .

Yah I guess I'm paranoid about someone else hosting a block.. If I just keep it disconnected from the internet, then there's absolutely no chance of an auto update. I don't want/need to go online with any titles for now. Even if I did, I'd do my own blocking in my own router.

Ha how big are the games in general? Shouldn't we expect external hard drive support soon? (Or doesn't it have a USB slot?)
I guess SD cards aren't too expensive!

So far from what I've grabbed, the games range from <1GB to 20GB+
Good luck Horrordee, it was pretty easy to set up!
Also, from what I understand, the kernel has no access to managing USB, and requires IOSU to achieve any sort of USB loading. So sounds like we're stuck with SD card with Loadiine for now.

Well just got my new card set up. Got scared because it took me like 5-6 tries to launch kexploit this time (Wii U kept freezing), but finally it ran.
3 games working so far with no problems:
* Star Fox
* Hyrule Warriors
* Captain Toad

Been waiting for an exploit to be released on latest 5.5.1 version since I dont own a Wii-U. Already downloaded the games, now thinking if its worth $300 + $78 for a 200GB SD card..Hmm..I prob will do it..
Only hold up is not able to use USB external drive. Loading kernel exploit each time seems like it could be deal breaker.. I dunno.

When available on Nintendo's website, the Wii U refurbished is 200$ instead of 300$. Some stores sell their refurbished stock for 220-230$.
I personally went for a cheap 64gb SD card. It doesn't fit every game at once, but it fits a great deal and I don't mind deleting some once I'm done with them.

Yeah, I have not seen those refurbs on Nintendo's site in a long time (actually ever). Ill check in though and maybe they get em. $300 new is steep. $200 new is more reasonable .

So, I gave this a try today. Went through all of this local server bullshit before I found loadiine.ovh which seems a lot simpler.
HOWEVER, how long does it normally take for the hack to work? It's just sitting there at the moment with a white screen on my gamepad and my TV... How long before I turn it off and try again?

Given you have to run it every time, that means 5-6 attempts each gaming session?
F-this!

Ah well fuck this. Tried it 10 times, always getting left on the white screen, music still playing from the hand set, with Wii U logo bottom right.

i also run it from loadiine.ovh, and so far it worked on every single attempt, and never took longer than 30 seconds.
make sure you choose the first option with the homebrew loader, then when it starts open loadiine from there.
if it doesnt work for you then try deleting the cookies in the wii u browser and restarting it, or check whether your folder structure on your sd card is set up properly.

I run the exploit locally on a private network, if it works it goes almost instantly, 2-3 seconds max? If it doesn't work, I get stuck on what looks like a media player screen and I just hard reset and try again.
Lately the success rate has been great, I think the last 15 times I tried it, maybe 1 fail in there. And so far only one game didn't work under certain conditions, but managed to get it working with other settings.
@Horrordee, maybe your SD card is not set up properly? Also which files are you using? I'm using the latest Loadiine GX2 nightly.
Also did you make sure you were running kexploit first and THEN Loadiine? I imagine you were, but just checking. This is how we trouble shoot, cover all the bases.

Wii U logo bottom right means the exploit worked, and it just can't launch loadiine.
Seems like you forgot to put the Homebrew Launcher on your SD Card, had that issue too. Newer loadiine relies on HBL.

I have the latest java HaxServer and use two separate URLs, I guess I don't even use HBL...
I hit /hax?kexploit10, causes reload back to menu.
Then I hit /hax?loadiine and GX2 interface comes right up.
Maybe it makes more sense to do the HBL route once I start using other apps, but literally only use Loadiine at the moment. Although I was looking into the cool NDS rom inject thing...

Haha ok guys I appreciate all of the help.
My wii is unable to access my PC running the JAR server hack, so instead I was hoping to use this loadline.ovh to actually run the exploit too - is that not possible?
I have put both Homebrew Launcher and Loadiine onto my memory card - the structure is correct. When I load loadiine.ovh and launch either Loadiine or Homebrew Launcher, I just get returned to the white screen with the Wii U logo.
I am unable to do anything with the controller at this point either.

I was getting that, but then I found out that I needed to place the loadiine gx2 folder in the apps directory. Loadiine worked after that. I've been hosting mine locally and after a few hours trying to get my new 64 gig sd card to work, I can say i have the same experience as others (working 14/15 times or so). I do wish there was a way to hard reset from the gamepad (instead of having to get up and push the power button on the console itself) but other than that, it's been a surprising enjoyable experience.

are you sure its exactly like this
Quote: | 1) Homebrew Launcher method
You need to extract the latest loadiine release to your SD card:
SD:/wiiu/apps/loadiine_gx2/loadiine_gx2.elf
SD:/wiiu/apps/loadiine_gx2/icon.png
SD:/wiiu/apps/loadiine_gx2/meta.xml
And if you don't already have it, download and extract the Homebrew Launcher to your SD card too:
SD:/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
SD:/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/icon.png
SD:/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/meta.xml |
