Well you have to say WHY Invision would have been better. Doesn't Invision cost a lot of money?

No, it's available at no cost as a free UNLIMITED trial with no locked features or anything. The only thing is that you have a (U) in the footer, standing for unregistered. Take a look here: http://forums.invisionpower.com/
And why it's better? Well, it's faster and has more features than phpBB. Though, mostly I guess it's a matter of taste.

VB Bulletin is limited ... due to the cgi.
php is more powerful and easier to script.

mmm... Look what they did to this site with vBulletin. They integrated the whole site with the forum. It's so damn nice. That's what I mean. I'm referring to DC.se and also a bit on Halflife.net. Links for dc.se http://www.directonnect.se and hl2.net http://www.halflife2.net. It's so damn dynamic and smooth.

Without going into details...someone spoilt it for all of us. We had to remove VBB as we had no choice.
phpBB is far easy to integrate to the site and it's alot easier to Skin.
The choice for phpBB was due to it being FREE and Open Source. As it's open source there are a lot of add-ons and modifications for it.
VBB is great, but they charge for each new version. If you have a Licence for version 1, you can't use versions 2 or 3. You have to purchase a new licence for each version. That's something we can't afford to do when there are free alternatives.
Give me something that is in VBB but not present here and we'll try to fix it, but you can't say that our old half skinned VBB looks better than this fully skinned phpBB??
This skin should be complete. The only thing missing at present are icons (which are almost ready). If there are any errors or unskinned pages then let us know.
Criticism is fine, but please make it constructive. Tells us what you don't like about something, that way we can fix it.

I forgot that you need to renew the license for each version and I remember that it is not really cheap. The design is awesome if you'll get the buttons done and you're working on it as I hear. Some mods that could be done: rating of threads, limit of editing threads to some minutes (so people won't edit bad posts, integration with the frontpage for comments on releases, shoutbox like on www.directconnect.se, weekly polls on the first page maybe. I'll bring up some more when I do some more research.
edit: Using vBulletin 3.0 myself and I know the difference with the admincp. It's very poor in PHPBB2 yes.
Could you add highlighting feature to threads and forums like they have on the "Athena" theme? When you click in the highlighted area you will be redirected to corresponding thread/forum.

so basically reading between the lines someone has grassed the site to vb for its content.
VB though would have been the better option and only costs 160 dollars a licence .
With vb3 upgrade the old database could have been imported within minutes .
arent there any other boards that can import vb data bases ?
My critic was constructive and Im still very disappointed . This new set up is terrible m8.

I don't think they are gonna change when they've done such a nice skin. But something they could do is try to import the posts from the other forum. I know there are tools for practically any board conversion to import threads ans forums.

Ill dontate 20 dollars towards the 160 for a vb licence .
If seven others are prepared to do the same then problem solved .

There is a vbb to phpbb convertor, but would porting the old posts over really satisfy the phpBB haters??
As we are now using the NFOrce.nl site account as board accounts porting the old posts poses a problem. There is no way to match the vBB board accounts to our site accounts so all posts would show as Guest or Anonymous. Surely that's worse than a blank board??
Secondly, post counts have been reset for the same reason.

What is so terrible about the new setup?? It does everything vbb does except it hasn't cost us $160, money that we can put towards hardware to keep the site running as well as it does.
This setup has a complete skin, not a half finished one. This has tighter site integration meaning you have one account, not two and new features can be added to the main site.

The board is using your NFOrce.nl account. You should be able to change your email by the Control Panel on the Main Site.
This will be fixed soon.

I'll put the towards the other admins, but I can't promise anything.
I personally like phpBB, only took two days to put this skin together. Takes me alot longer to do vBB.

The point is, there is absolutley nothing wrong with the current boards. I don't think the admins would want to change back just for 3-4 users who can't be bothered to adjust to change. I sure wouldn't.

I agree, there is nothing wrong with these boards (despite a few hiccups that are being ironed out). I personally like this setup much better.
And this saves a ton of money, even through donations, you can't argue with free. I think this setup gets the job done just fine. I like this new setup and I vote to keep it as is.

Let's face it, who will notice after a couple of months? It'll be just like the old board again so let's get on with contributing eh?
