Aye, "Unofficial Patch" is now up to 6.1 and it's excellent! Adds scenes cut from the retail game, fixes bugs, adds features and also engine optimisations. It gets updates all the time too.
Tessmage is the guy who makes porno mods for Sims2 and Bloodlines, and is also the author of the Vampire Bloodlines "True Patch" (his own variant of the unofficial patch, but rather than adding cut features/storyline/events/places, he just concentrated on it being a PATCH to fix bugs/glitches)
He then threw a wobbly over people not appreciating his work, preferring to use Unofficial instead, so he "took his ball and went home"-- deleted all references and files for the True Patch and then shut his site down in a MASSIVE nerd-rage fit.
http://www.tessmage.com/main.htm << NSFW link. Has nekkid ladies and pornographic models for games. Visit quickly, he's taking the site offline at the end of this month.
He calls his True Patch "the best one on the internet" and said this as a closing message;
Quote: |
Once it became clear that the public did not value his work, Tessera has simply walked away from the ingrates.
Mediocrity wins again.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura was brilliant. I didn't really get into the Temple of Elemental Evil - the game seemed v primitive to me, missing something.
If you fancy playing Arcanum, then check out the unoffical patch on rpgcodex.net.

"Mature Gamers" my arse. More like "For sexually frustrated, fat, acne-ridden, teenagers who couldn't get laid in a brothel"
I've never met a LEGITIMATELY mature gamer who has to resort to downloading nude mods for his, or her, games. The no-censor patch for Sims is different, IMO, in that it's not a nude "mod" it just removes that stupid blocky crap.
Anyway, all OT chat aside, here's the site where you can get the Unofficial Patch; http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php

Finished it without patches, I'm a champ. Does it work on an 8800GT? Last I heard it didn't (or was that KotOR II?).
I'm too busy playing NOLF anyway, what a game.

One of my favourite RPG games ever... So sad how buggy it was but surely the gameplay compensated that aspect.

@Frolsa
Don't worry mate, Vampire works great on the 8800GT. You're right, KotOR has issues (same with the 4-series Radeons too, massive screen flickering unless you turn off FBE)
@Mutantius
Agreed! Buggy as all hell, but the sublime gameplay more than made up for it.

Man, Its such as shame we wont see another worthy installment. It will probably spark a sequel in a year or two with a "bloodraynish-consolish" gameplay with no RPG depth whatsoever... Though there is a an upcoming world of darkness MMO game but I seriously doubt how well that will turn out but we can hope.

With all due respect, I strongly recommend you read more about Troika before bad-mouthing or blaming them for the poor state it was released in. Their hand was forced and they HAD to release it before it was finished due to publisher insistence. After Troika went bankrupt, they continued patching the game for MONTHS - with no pay and nothing but the gratitude of their fans.
After it was released, and from the coder bedrooms, they released two patches. That, if you ask me, is fan-support to the level of Stardock and CD Projekt.
For example;
Quote: |
Bloodlines went Gold as Version 1.0. Since contractual obligations with Valve would interdict Bloodlines to be released before Valve's debut of the Source engine in Half-Life 2, Activision did not publicly announce that the game had gone Gold and instead gave Troika an additional week to polish the game, after which Bloodlines Version 1.1 underwent another three weeks of testing.

Troika had trouble with all of their RPGs. That sort of RPG always has scores upon scores of scripting errors. Probably why we see so few RPGs and so many first person shooters.

Actually, I wouldn't find too much wrong with that statement either (Arcanum rules but god DAMN it's buggy)

How much does this 6.1 patch fix/add? Does it give a different/better gaming experience compared to vanilla?

Considerably! Almost all the bugs are fixed and there's been a lot of restored content.

I've been playing this LOADS over the past couple days ... absolutely loving it, just as I always have. No *major* issues to speak of except none of the opening movies play, it's just a black screen with audio. In-game cutscenes are fine, of course.
Performance is still poor, but not unenjoyable any more. Get 45-75fps and the only reason I say poor is because, que? 45fps on a game that's 5 years old - on THIS spec computer? Pfffft. Shit, any other Source-based game runs 100fps+ at all times, all settings, including FakeFactory 10 and Dark Messiah.
