One of the best comic book series. But I see from the trailer they restrain the gore.

I started watching it then the mind altering vape hit and it hit hard.
Amazing. Then I zoned out. Then brutal.
8/10 for the animation alone.
4/10 for the story cause I zoned out.
10/10 for making a brutal scene stand out... like the explosion in children of men. It was visceral and just... brutal.

But from what I remember, I recommend it. Reminded me of superman tas in terms of animation.

Really? He told me thats why he did what he did. And hadn't the former been the case, he wouldn't have to do it as there'd be no need for the thing to happen.
If he lied to me, ill no longer take his word when it comes to comic book nerdom. Lol.
Or is the latter part inferred by the reader? Cause I got a bit excited after he told me that. I was already sold on the show and just needed a bit of an explanation because obvious reasons. So what he told me got me even more interested, and if it ain't true, I'll still watch it.

Omni-man is just envoy from nazi space empire. Due to something that happened they infiltrate planets, check the probability of having offspring and the defenses of the planet.
The bug - Flaxian invasion had nothing to do with him killing the other super heroes. Rather Mark having his super powers manifest showed Nolan that humans can hybridize with Veltrimites and take their characteristics. Although it was never told straight in the comic book. Rather just the twist was Omni-man is the bad guy and Earth is gonna get fucked and invaded because that's what omni's people do and it was time.
They changed some things by rushing the plot in the tv adaptation. For example Nolan was never in a coma and straight up told Mark his destiny is to rape and rule over Earth. Dunno how they will resolve it in the tv series. |
The comic is one of the better deconstruction of super hero genre. It has a lot of great characters and twist, some superb light and yet emotional and hard hitting writing by Kirkman.

I thought that of the first episode and was ready to let go until its end, I mean I don't really like the high school crap as we are just too old to relate any more (), but it's somewhat fine.. It's part of the decor, so to speak. The love stories ? Bit whatever but basically the same, I kinda expect it.
I didn't mind the supposed "wokeness" at all since it was always very second degree/satirical about it.
But yeah, it's definitely not for the teenage drama part that I'm watching it at all, but for the supes deconstruction thing - and well, I'm pretty curious as to why | Spoiler: | Omni-man did what he did now, I suspect it has to do with toughening his boy à la valedictorian something, and the action scenes are fun |

All in all a great show, really enjoyed the season finale seems like they blew most of their animation budget for the season on this episode.
It's great they toned the side stuff and drama Kirkman likes to go overboard with in his comics down a lot in the show the comic really drags at times which is why i dropped it years ago, they also changed characters and the story itself a good bit (overall it's still the same story though).
Show is allrdy renewed for at least 2 more seasons (writers said they have material for 7-8 more seasons)

I wrestled my inner aversion to anything superhero-related and seeing as how the response was particularly positive I binged the season in the hope of finding something that could really tickle my interest. The mission was..*awkward pause*..not exactly a success, but there are indeed unique situations and surprisingly brutal expedients that don't belong to the usual tropes and made it stand out.
Unfortunately (and I agree with Shocktrooper) to me the remaining 70% of the show qualified as a forgettable soap-y teen circus for grown-ups, with also shades of a more extreme and cynical Dragon Ball  . Most likely I won't bother with the future seasons, but at least the spoilers and wiki can answer all the questions. The real superheroes.

Haha yeah, it was not my intention to open a can of worms sorry, that was merely a silly hyperbole of someone who has nearly zero knowledge or interest in the genre and whose only experience with seemingly invincible flying superdudes kicking each other's asses in cartoon form is from that specific distant and cheesy childhood memory. Then again, it's my fault for trying to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong in the first place
