The game will play as an open-world Japanese role-playing video game. While it is a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles, it features a new world and cast of characters.
It stars protagonist Rex and his new friend Pyra, who are searching the world for Elysium, the ultimate paradise for humanity.
The game takes place in an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilization live on the backs of numerous colossal beasts known as the Titans.
Previews/Trailers:
I personally can't wait for the game, it will be my reason for getting a Switch (alongside Mario Odyssey).
The previous 2 games had some of the best open world design of all gaming, with the 1st one also sporting a fittingly amazing OST and storyline, while (IMO) easily being the best JRPG of more than a decade.
This one seems to be alot more like the first game and apparently even more vast and content-filled, I heard numbers around the area of 80-90 hours for only the main story and given the size of the previous 2 games (which took me ca. 200 hrs each to 100%), this could easily be true.
Oh it definitely is, but I already played and finished the Wii U version, I will get the Switch one too for a replay in a few years, maybe a complete edition with all the DLC content.
In a normal gaming year, Zelda would easily be GOTY hands down, but 2017 is pretty much the best gaming year since 2004, and with Nintendo alone just throwing out all these quality games, it's really tough to say.
Dayum dat music, its as great as in the 1st game.
After all this is made by the composer of Chrono Trigger/Cross and Xenogears.
The exploration and scenery are amazing as always, especially near the end of the video.

Mario odyssey is goty for me, even better than Zelda. Nintendo really did a masterpiece of a platformer.
And I can't wait to play it.
Switch probably had the best launch year of all time with 3 GOAT level games, it's simply insane, and the launch year isn't even nearly finished.
Well fuck. Can't afford a switch right now. Part one on the Wii was one of the more memorable experiences in gaming I've had and let to me buying the Wii U for X. Would do the same for this and the switch if I had the money.
Huge fan of Mario 64.. i dont know, its something with the atmosphere of it that i just dont care for at all. The levels are so dull to me. Mario 64 was great that way, each level was a fantastic and (to me) way more atmospheric and fun.. Kind of liked the Mario Galaxy games but never finished them, i guess i'd rate this about the same as them, its ok but not gonna finish it. Its better than Mario Sunshine thats for sure though
Gonna wait and get back to it, might discover it as something else than i do now, it has happened before (hated and sold Last of Us, now its one of my favorite games of all time haha)
Spoiler alert but you should finish the « story » at least and unlock the Mushroom Kingdom if you loved Mario 64 because it’s really a tribute to Mario 64. You can even get the old Mario 64 polygoned Mario !
I also like the tribute to Mario 1 with 2D phases, the one endingNew Donk City is epic.
I didn’t like much Mario Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and 2, but this one is much better IMO. I liked Mario 3D World though on Wii U, but this one is even better.
Motivated to even get the 999 moons at least 500 moons to unlock extra levels.
Getting my copy of Xenoblade 2 this Friday. So far I'm mainly concerned about how the game will look undocked since I mainly use the Switch as a handheld. Based on the screenshots I've seen it looks really rough, sub-720p res (undocked).

Very slightly, but not really.
There are some nods to previous games, subtly establishing that its all part of the same story/universe, but not too obvious since its a licensing hell with Square owning the rights to Xenogears, Namco to Xenosaga and now Nintendo/Monolith to Xenoblade.
All games still take place in our universe, many thousands of years in the future.
From what I ve heard Xenoblade 2 is supposed to have alot more connections to Xenogears/Saga than the previous 2 games.
Well, I'm pondering weather to finish the saga' series or go straight into blade. I replayed xenogears and absolutely loved the story from start to finish. Saga 1 bored me quite a bit but I finished it, and wondering if I should even bother with #2,3 at all.
PC Specs: A Maganavox' Odyssey
Tweaked to play Frogger, Lemmings & GTA4
I loved Saga but if episode 1 bored you then skip it, episode 2 is the worst offender and 3 is the best in the trilogy imo, but you have to get there first, so just leave it.
You can just go ahead and play the blade games in whichever order you want since they're not tightly related.
Xenoblade Chronicles 1 was an amazing blend of story and fun gameplay with exploration, while X was lacking in story but provided imo the best designed open world of all time.
Both games are great on their own terms.

Well Saga 1 had its moments, hmm, and that's not the first time I've herd that about #3. I guess I will attempt #2 and see how it goes. It picks up right after the first game right? I hope I can remember everything correctly.
Yea, but 2 is almost like a standalone game, a side story that hardly advances the main one.
It focuses on the characters Rubedo and Albedo and its the shortest game of the trilogy.
Inelegant and tedious, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the anti-Nintendo game. In a year full of triumphs for the plucky Switch, this massive role-playing game is a disappointment.
"Famitsu" 4 infamous "Review gods" scored it a 9-8-9-9
Xenoblade 1 was 9999
Xenoblade X was 9988
each number represents digit on the reviewers... well review score. Other reviewers have also marked it high as well. Non sell out ones. In all honesty I don't even trust reviews anymore especially Kotaku.
edit: Started reading the Kotaku review, and from what I gather this reviewer didn't like the first one either. So, why would he like this one. I wonder if it's as "annoying" as he's making it out to be or if hes just being biased.

You should point out that the review was written by Jason Schreier, who hated the previous games too and loved FF15.
This is basically a confirmation that it's a great game, and metascore is hovering around 85 too.
