well there you go, was to be expected and again us Uk/Euro lot have to deal with the highest price's compared to Usa/Japan
so £169+game = £200
way to much for a handheld

I made a mistake, its £179 !!!!!!!!!!
Quote: |
Sony's PSP handheld console will go on sale in Europe on 1 September, nine months after it hit Japanese stores.
The PSP is a games console which can also play movies and music, and will sell for 249 euros (£179).
In the US the console sells for $249 (£129) plus tax. More than 1.5 million units have been sold globally.
A spokesman for Sony in the UK said it was confident there would be enough stock to satisfy demand for the new machine on day one.
The company has defended the price difference between the US and UK, pointing out that American prices were subject to local sales tax and that VAT in the UK was higher.
Adequate supply
"This is not a case of rip off Britain," he said.

The price is not so steep, I might buy the psp, all depending on PES/WE PSP. The worst thing is the launch date.

You have Got think what the PSP does for that price!!! -
Games (PS2 Graphics)
1GB (or 2GB if it can take a 2GB card) MP3 Player
Portable Movie Player
Photo Viewer
Homebrew Stuff
Etc
Etc
Yea you can buy a DS for £100 - £130, But all it is is a Game player with a smaller screen and lower quality graphics..

PS2 graphics... hardly more like the DS is a contrast between a PSX and N64 the PSP is less than ps2 but still alright i suppose.....
1gb mp3 player that's huge. why not just use an ipod?
portable movie player... again so what? the Disc's are more expensive than DVd's and can't be ripped etc.
homebrew stuff.... everything has this nowadays
etc etc.... i think you too have run outta ideas
DS = £95 where did you get 100-130?
also the DS is not supposed to do what the PSP can. Anyway the sales figues shows... Ds = over 2 million in the us alone... psp = 1.5 globally.
anyway..... for "that price" i'd much rather have a PDA which does all that except plays ps2 games but the pda has more features like a camera, blue tooth, notepad etc. but i'd much rather wait 2 months and get an xbox360

But in the Warranty Paper of SCEA then the PSP is not covered by an international warranty...

i certainly wouldn't say it's better than the ds when it comes to games + gameplay. If i wanted them features i would buy a better alternative. Also i don't see how the performance is better than the DS :/

please lets not turn another thread into a PSP vs Ds thread -both do a a good job for what they are made for.
But lets continue about why we have to wait the longest and shafted all the time.
Does anbody know if the Europe release will have the newer battery thats supposed to increase the battery life by another 2 hours

The PSP does look great, but it will look pale when Xbox 2 comes out. Any news about Winning Eleven for the PSP?

Well for now the PSP looks quite good even compared to the home consoles. I will most likely end up with a PSP when WE or PES comes out for the PSP
