I'd consult DV2 about the matter.

Darn, this question is becoming quite annoying.
Firs thing that came to mind when I saw the title: "FFS, not DV2 again"

if you can wait -> wait. if not -> doenst matter. skylake doesnt give a huge performance boost and ddr4 is expensive and still error-prone
BUT NEVER BUY A S-CPU!!! get the normal non-k version

What's even worth the wait that you're doing that Haswell can't already do? DDR4 is going to have such minuscule noticeable performance that it doesn't justify the prices it'll be.
Same with CPU's. What exactly does Skylake do better in gaming that Haswell can't do? Give you 2 extra FPS?

If you're willing to buy DDR4 then you might as well just get Haswell-E instead of Skylake. It's the better option and you aren't missing out on any features.

Except they've consistently failed to deliver every promise they've made with their performance CPU's for the past few years. They DO have a great engineer working with them now they got from Intel but I can't see that helping them any. If they don't pull through then Intel's going to be free to charge whatever they want for their stuff and not have any competition to bring them back down.
There's been articles about MS and Samsung buying out AMD.....

Just don't get excited about hardware anymore, buy skylake / haswell-e, new mb, new 16gb ddr4, buy m2 SSD, buy $1000 gpu or two.. = play console ports locked at 30fps with exactc same assets.. Its more retarded than just buying xone and being done with it.

why?
i want a 65W cpu as im building a mini itx pc and i want to keep it as cool as possible without spending on liquid cooling or having to underclock.
the new h170n board has the alc1150 chipset instead of 892 and im hearing stuff about better compatibility with windows 10 but i dont know anything specific, thus why im asking
and 2x4gb ddr4 is only about ~ 7£ more

Personally I'd always buy the newest tech when its so close to come out. Even if the difference in performance is small to none, its a gut feeling.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Used to do that, but the past years price drops are non existent or not worth a damn.

tbh honest i do not like to buy used cpus. you dont know what the previous owner has done with it (have bought my old q9550 used though) and they are easier to damage than gfx cards (my last two ones were bought used)

and thats the point, the performance plus is not as huge as it was before on plattform changes.they might go down a few percent, but thats it. they even will increase in price soon.
price of the q9550 for example is stable in the time i bought it used and sold it again without almost no loss (think i paid 115 and 1,5-2 years later i still got 90). now you pay around the same, maybe even 100. that will happen to the 1150er socket too

AMD Zen architecture set for 4Q16
Probably looking at Q4 2016 or Q1 2017 release...
If Intel manages to get Cannonlake by Q2 2017 on 10nm..I don't see AMD to survive much longer honestly.

Broadwell, Skylake, Kaby Lake (Q3/Q4 2016), Cannonlake (Q3/Q4 2017). The first generation AMD Zen CPU's will arrive up to a year earlier than the Cannonlake CPU's from Intel.
Meanwhile Kaby Lake is just a refresh of Skylake on the same node and shouldn't yield a worthwhile performance increase over Skylake (it might be another Broadwell afaik) and it looks like Cannonlake won't arrive until Intel has sorted out the 10nm process which seem to be an even more difficult transition than the 22nm->14nm. Worst case scenario is that Cannonlake will either be delayed even longer than Q3/Q4 of 2017 or Intel will be forced to tape it out on 14nm to keep the 2-year tick-expectation rolling.
