EXCLUSIVE: Here’s one for the Comic-Con crowd to gnaw on. I’m told that Ben Affleck is teaming up with Geoff Johns to co-write a stand-alone Batman movie that Affleck will direct and star in after he completes his longstanding plan to helm his scripted adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night.
Johns has about as much comic cred as anybody around. He’s DC Comics’ chief creative officer and has written some of its best remembered comic book series including Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League Unlimited, The Flash and Superman. He also has written TV series superhero transfers Smallville, Arrow and The Flash, as well as the Supergirl project with Greg Berlanti for CBS.
My studio sources tell me that Affleck and Johns are well in synch and have more than found their rhythm.
When? Coming at some point after November 2017's Justice League.

I respect Ben as a director, so this could potentially be good news. As for Batfleck himself though, we shall reserve our judgment until we've seen him bleed whilst wearing catwoman's casual armoured suit
I still haven't seen batman v superman, but I'd watch an affleck directed batman movie In every footage I saw him as batman he looked very fitting and he is also a capable film maker. Let's see!
he s the perfect comic book batman imo, and the only good thing about the movie.
it also had the best depiction of batman's fighting style, it was obvious they took a few cues from the rocksteady games.
Turns out Ben Affleck's upcoming solo "Batman" film may not have just one or two villains - in fact it may have a whole bunch more than that.
Affleck stars, directs and is co-writing the film with DC's Geoff Johns which will form part of the DC Extended Universe that began with Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" and continued with this year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which introduced Affleck's older take on Bruce Wayne.
Rumors so far have suggested the film will follow the "Under the Red Hood" story in which the seemingly dead Robin returns from the grave, something hinted at in 'Dawn' as well. Now though, Birth Movies Death has a report saying that isn't the case. Rather their sources say:
Quote:
"Many, if not most, members of Batman's rogue's gallery will be making appearances in the film. It's going to be crammed with Bat villains, which means that just about every major bad guy you've ever wanted to see in a movie will be in this movie.
According to my sources Affleck and Geoff Johns, who has been working with him on the film, want to make the definitive Batman film. They want to tell the ultimate Batman story, and to do so they're going to bring in all the big guns. They're going to have a big, sprawling Bat universe already in place."
This matches the model so far for the DCEU which has established Batman as already having had a two decade long run under his belt. This would mean his various villains are all effectively established at this point. Even though many of the appearances will be just cameos, it will allow for some potentially great casting possibilities that could extend into future films.
There were rumors it would adapt/be inspired by Under the Red Hood?
Fanwank != rumors. Fanwank, to me, is pure speculation. Rumors = based on something someone heard etc.
For example what Birth Movies Death reports now IS a rumor because it originated from someone (supposedly) rather than from one's ass ("hey wouldn't it be cool if.." "Quick let's post it as a rumor although we invented it and therefore it's pure speculation!")

Apart from a few comic book fags who said that the movie was for grown ups and it didn't make you feel like a kid when watching it unlike marvel movies.
But like FFS... JESUS....
We'll ALL know how snyder did batman within 72 hours
Huh, I just read that Affleck now said for sure that he'll direct it. Pretty cool.. I have yet to see what snyder did to batman v superman.
It's been a certainty for a while now. I'm sure it was one of the reasons they cast him in the first place so talks about directing must have started during the casting process.

I haven't seen Superman v Batman yet, but looking forward to this 'ultimate Batman movie'. I have good confidence in Affleck, a real fan of the franchise. I'm hoping for something between Under the Red Hood and The Long Halloween (my personal favorite). With both combined, you pretty much have all the bad guys already.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
I really enjoyed Batman V Superman. In fact thought it was the best CBM this year. If that makes me "a comic book fag" then so be it, couldn't give a fuck.

Without the steelman from Uncle, token wonderwoman and improbable CGI beasts, and with Joker instead (Leto I presume? Unless he flops ), this could be the Bats that we deserve...sort of.
(Arkham Asylum would be great, the only downside is that we might end up seeing Zuckerberg again :<)
Ben Affleck wasn’t just teasing: Deathstroke will, in fact, be the main antagonist of the Batman standalone movie he’s directing, TheWrap has exclusively learned from an individual with knowledge of the situation.
I'm ready.

We all suspected it, but now its confirmed – “True Blood” and “Magic Mike XXL” star Joe Manganiello is the comic book villain Deathstroke in the upcoming Ben Affleck-directed “Batman” solo film at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Affleck recently shared a video online of Manganiello in his Deathstroke outfit but didn’t reveal the actor underneath the mask or what role the character would play.
Today, DC Entertainment president and CCO Geoff Johns reportedly confirmed the casting to The Wall Street Journal in his first interview discussing his new role overseeing Warners’ movies based on DC Comics characters.
Johns declined to comment on whether Deathstroke has a cameo in “Justice League” which is currently shooting in London and where the footage was likely shot. He also declined to say when the solo “Batman” film will be released, a film he and Affleck are writing.
