|
 |
So I work in a wood/steel fabrication shop that builds displays. We've done stuff for Google, Apple, Dell, HP, Microsoft, Universal Studios and the list goes on.
So we're working with a new company who's doing this big job for Microsoft's new server room and we're building wall panels and desks for them.
One of the boards we cut out had some shit wrong with it so I asked if i could have the wood and I fixed the issues and had it re-ran on our huge CNC machine after sanding down the wood etc.
Excuse me for potato, my camera sucks dick fuck
It assembled. I didn't take any pictures of the build progress cause I'm lame like that.
Grabbed some scrap 14gauge 2" ID steel tubes at work and put some flanges on them so they could mount to the bottom of the desk.
Semi done.
I still have to finish the cable holes which one of my engineers has an awesome idea for that which I'll be ordering the stuff on Monday.

haha well I didn't have room or a real reason for needing a a keypad on the side. I never use it so I ordered the one without it
And as above, I didn't really have room for 3 monitors especially since I just got bookshelf speakers but now that I do. I'm looking into what the best option for triple is going to be since my main LG is no longer in the stores but it's amazing for what I paid. I may try to find them online and order 2 more.
Or I might just order a 1440 or 4K and just use these two as side screens.

hehe thank you sir! I've got some more cable management ideas in the process for tying off etc.
The monitors have been moved closer since that picture lol.

Cool! What were those 3 holes in the back originally for?
If the desk is too 'deep', just cut the part with the holes out if you're not using them.

some criticism from me (in b4 getting called a hater). the way surface is shaped it's very wasteful on space, well maybe if you have a massive house (and since you are in murika i guess you do).
if it was good ol rectangle surface it would occupy like 30-40% less space.

But then it would look just like some plain desk from Ikea.

Yeah, but those things are sturdy as fuck. I've had the same desk from IKEA since 2000. That's 14 years of me abusing it.
It's a nice desk btw, was thinking of getting something similar (just bigger) so that me and my girl can sit next to each-other.

Just to end this.
He said he's too lazy to make one, not that it's too complicated nor that he can't afford it. He's simply too lazy to do it.
The End!

Do you feel superior when you mention that he should get a job? Was there any reason to use that in your sentence at all, except coming of as a big asshole?

yes i had a reason. why does he have to be an asshole with his attitude towards me about me buying stuff for him? i just told him he can make custom table very CHEAP AND EASY.

and i said that it's very easy to make custom table yourself for lazy ppl, you don't need to do any work except order and screw on table legs. i wasn't suggesting him buy any expensive custom table set.
once again ppl bunching up on me for no reason.

Well you could always change your attitude a tiny bit to keep that from happening.
There must be some truth to it if it keeps repeating and more people voice it no?

because he posted that after my post where i was actually advising AGAINST buying anything expensive and explaining how he can get custom one extremely cheap table quick and easy (compared to premade expensive ones).

I assumed (actually still do) that custom made desks are expensive from my experience with other custom fit things, which are usually... well... expensive. Got that experience from... jobs... who would have thought, right?
The thing is, it's not about the amount of money anyway, it's about me deeming it worth the amount I would've to pay. Just because something is cheap in your opinion, doesn't mean it's cheap for me or worth it.
The desk of my dreams that fits my expectations would be expensive as hell, I can assure you that. 65€ wouldn't cut it, not even close. Especially not if I contracted one to let it be made for me. Which would up the price even more.
I got the skills to make one myself, I'm simply too lazy to do it because I know myself... that project would be bigger and take longer than it was meant to be in the beginning
No clue where that hostility came from and why. I can't see anything bad about my first post on the subject matter. I basicly was just congratulating Spykez for his fine work and you go all sandy vagina on me.
